RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

What should be the name of our cause? No name, just an revolution?

Or a "movement" ?

Re: Sick of school? Revolt! V.2

A youtube video seems to be the best option IMO. I could steal my sisters cam and do a little speech.

On second thought, not many people would take a hyper active 14 year old like myself seriously.

Worst case scenario, you can laugh at their moronic ageism.

I'm pretty good at speeches and arguments. And watching a 14 year old speaking super "cereal" may make people listen.

Okay, I have Sony Vegas, so if it's for SRSLY necessary, I'll help with editing. We need some shock stories. Help me find some. GO FORTH!

Also, Linki, in all honesty, you look quite young, they might not take you cereal either. Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it I suppose. Hey, what if we all say something? It could be a colab type of thing.

Re: Sick of school? Revolt! V.2

What are we going the call this thing though?

If we just call it "SS" then we can't use anything in our propaganda that would make people think of the Schutzstaffel. So we'd better not use anything with lightning, the "peace" symbol, or teutonic knights.

It won't be called "SS". A quick and easy name to remember, and it doesn't have to be an acronym.

What about using a number? Say 55? Maybe it's not as good as 144 is, but 55 is still a cool number.

Hmm, maybe. There can be some symbolism involving numbers.

In Need of Education is nice.

I was just thinking... the Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s (Focusing on America here)

They didn't really come up with a name...Well, there were a lot of organizations and all, but at the end, it was the Civil Rights Movement.

Anyway, flags, symbolism, etc. Any ideas?

White Flag - Surrender
Black Flag - ....

Free learner has my vote. I like drawing so I could design a quick sketch of a flag that is simple, yet gets the idea across.

Memento Mori Wrote:I seriously don't know how to "take off". Any ideas?
By taking off do you mean leaving home? I've been thinking the same for me, but when I'm older (14, so 3 and half years off from 18) I'll have more opportunities to think up a plan. It really depends on your current amount of money and if you can get a job.

Not exactly.
It's what bases and holds the idea, not enforces it. The enforcing part is still something I'm thinking about.
