RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

[PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

It's 6 AM. At 7:30 I'm supposed to be at school, 5 hours today.
Stargardian ZS#1, Poland, high school. Very bad grades which I don't feel like making up for.

The thing is, I skipped a lot, for reasons and also out of pure laziness and depression.
Yesterday<cut>
(Mother just came in and complained about me not studying.)
Umm, yesterday she was called to the school office. They told her to take my papers from the school and sign me in to a worse one. Why? Cause the PE teacher didn't like the fact I said that the changing room smells. Horribly.
I'm gonna "apologize" to them all today, but most likely with no result. I need an answer within few days, of what can I do at the age of 16(schooling here is forced up to 18) to just skip this school without problems, and legally have qualifications equal to my knowledge, not to my obedience. Or at least a job I could start right away now(that pays enough to attend a private school where they will be forced to let me through), using my extensive knowledge of computer systems, programming, graphical simulation(games too!), networking and all of the geek stuff in general.

Oh, and they threatened my mother with a lawsuit already. Which makes her go as far as to cutting my internet access, which will make impossible for me to study what I want, and cut contact with my girlfriend - this isn't the first time either. I cannot continue education either, cause of several "disorder labels", and being considered a "threat" cause of my open attidude about the system. Yes, I'm facing an "offer" of converting to being a sheep on every step. The Scared Straight system I read about on this site fits my situation almost perfectly.

Homeschooling won't work, it's very restricted here and the school won't just let me.

I haven't heard of a PL equivalent of the GED, but if anyone knows anything - my ears belong to you.

Suicide is something I also have considered already, but only in case when escape is not an option, and followed by radical acts against the cause. I'll take them with me if they so want a war. I'm not afraid, I have no regrets, and it'll be more of a pleasant death than becoming an antidepressant pill zombie.
Those old, collapsing school buildings should burn pretty nicely.

But other suggestions are welcome. Unless you present me something that has at least 0.1% of give up and join them solution, as I'll rather rip your guts out and feed to your grandparents than listen to the bullshit.

Problem, officer?

Don't kill yourself, if you have control over yourself they will be more powerless.
Try a GED equivalent, or go to a private school. If you can Noo

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

During such "incident" type things, the situation usually seems worse than it really is.

Just look for alternatives where you live, there's almost always something.

Go here http://www.school-survival.net/wiki/Main_Page and see if you can find something.

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

Be nice and tell me about an existing equivalent then. The law here is just a sick post-communist bullshit sack that doesn't even allow homeschooling.

Surely I can't be the only one who voted for the suicide+terror act? Come on people, it's a winning combination!

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

To get out of this unharmed, I have only a few days to find something convincing enough. Probably going to live only as long as through the weekend. Saving the last funds already on either a bus ticket, or a tank of gasoline.

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

Since you're below the school leaving age you either find an alternative or think of something else. If you've let go enough to go on a rampage then you've let go enough to do other things like leaving the country etc.

Do an apprenticeship, I think you can do those instead of school in Poland if you're over 16, if I remember reading an article correctly.

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

How far away are you from this place?: http://www.iatefl.org.pl/tdal/n8french_assa.htm (http://www.assa.wroc.pl/)

I also found this site linked to from an interesting article, though I have no idea what it's actually about: http://www.teremiski.edu.pl/

As for making money, you could probably do what I'm doing: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10587
It's not fast though, takes some time to get going. But you don't need jack shit qualifications to do it.

I remember reading about that too. Tried Googling but didn't find anything useful.

Don't kill yourself though. That'd be a waste when you can just run away instead.

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

Instead of killing yourself (or others Wink) run away to another EU country if things get too bad. That might not exactly be legal though. I figure there's no border checkpoints so it might work.

And you have what I assume to be a good command of the English language, so I think you could make it in pretty much any metro area.

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

ASSA is great, but far away and way too expensive.
500zl a month for a school is just sick.

Apprenticeship is the alternative they want to move me to by force, and it's full of the guys failing to get to HS resulting in more bullshit.

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

How does apprenticeship work over there then? It being "full of guys" makes it sound like it's just another school...

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

It simply is. Just an alternative for dumbasses, as the directions are as interesting as any other hard job. And you're working half of your time while you're not getting even paid for it.
The education here isn't a choice, it's plain bullshit.

Oh, and those people are even worse than in HS. Since their age it'll be already criminal acts and pathology instead of just bullying.

I wish I could just fall into a coma for two years.

Still 3 days of life left.

Re: [PL/HS]In urgent need of help.

What's the worst that will happen if you go to school but don't do any schoolwork and just sort of fail until you're legally old enough to quit?
