My grade 11 computer programming teacher... When in doubt, refer to his book. When his book doesn't have the answer, it's obviously impossible. Do it his way, or the right way. If you do the latter you'll fail.

Half of them don't know what they're even doing. Some have even admitted that they still get payed the same if the entire class fails their exams. So why bother teaching anything.

Another half are just plain assholes, control freaks.

Quite a few teachers can't even speak English.

And thrown in a few religious nutjobs who don't quite understand separation of church and state, and how it applies to the public school system.

I had a sub once and he kicked a classmate's desk and the desk went sliding a little. I also heard he sat on a desk in an earlier class and the desk broke. Needless to say, he got fired after that day.

You gotta admit that crack about getting paid the same is pretty funny though. I say things like that just to get a rise out of the kids sometimes. Especially if some little smart-alec is running his mouth about what he thinks of how I do my job. Here's how it usually works: I model some instruction on how to do some classwork and then tell the students to at least try for ten minutes to figure it out on their own before raising their hands. About 20 seconds later a hand goes up. Then when I say just keep working on it independently for bit the student goes off about how it's wrong to discourage questions and I ain't no teacher or whatever.

On the other hand, I also dislike religious nutjobs. Since there are a couple of Christian clubs run by teachers at my school I think it would be funny to start a Satanic club.

I worked as a sub for a while and believe me it's miserable. You must live in a pretty privileged school district if a sub got fired for that. The ghetto schools I went to were glad to get almost anybody in there. They would be glad the sub even cared enough to tell the kids to shut up. When I subbed I would tell the kids that if they didn't want to learn to please go to back of the class and for those who want to study or learn come to the front for the instruction. Usually like two or three kids would come for the instruction and I would just ignore the rest. I didn't want to kick them out but I was happy if they decided to leave. Even with an approach as mellow as that kids got in my face and cussed at me. It was hard not to feel like they were idiots.

So... if a worker voices his opinion on his boss he may be fired, but at least he has his right to free speech. If a student voices his opinion, he is sent to the office, chewed out without even being able to get a word in, and then has Ritalin shoved down his throat.

I'm entirely opposed to the use of ADHD medicine if that makes you feel any better. Nor do I send students to the office for voicing their opinions. If he or she is totally aggressive and rude I can usually chill them out pretty quickly on my own.

Very, there was yelling and screaming. Here's how it started. We couldn't understand how he was teaching, none of us could, so we said "Can you explain it again? I don't get it." When he yelled at us and told us to pay attention, we're obviously going to get aggravated, so we said "We still don't get it!" So this goes on for awhile, he gets mad and throws the chair, hitting my friend in the back.

What would have happened if he it hit the principle? Be honest. And why is that any different?

Of course, because he didn't do it on purpose, or he didn't do it that hard makes it A-Okay! Especially if he was angry and couldn't properly control himself, in which case he makes the perfect teacher!

I'm not saying it's ok but you know, torturing the sub is a time-honored tradition. When you sub, kids set out on a mission to make you blow your top (and I did it to subs when I was young). Unless someone was hurt by the chair incident I would just say one point for the kids and move on. I had students throw things at me before and I knew writing it up would lead to huge consequences so I've always let it slide. I say give this geezer the same courtesy. I mean, come on! These kids weren't treating this old guy the way they would want to be treated and you know it. No harm, no foul, move on. If he actually hurt someone then that's a different story.

I don't know what you mean by that, but my math teacher couldn't get staples because we couldn't affordit. Darn ******.
But i watered down what happened.
It was kinda like all the class was talking, except me, i was drawing. and the sub was swearing at us and said something about easy way or hard way and at somepoint he kicked the kids desk (it moved like 5 inches btw).
