RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. Send me a message if you'd like to keep in touch with me & Steve.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Re: Codename: Kids Next Door.

I watched KND a few more times and its pretty funny IMO. Altogether the message that all teenagers and adults are evil is wrong, but still, the made-up weapons and huge-ass treehouse was win. Biggrin

Also, is Bill Cosby numbah 5's dad? Wtf

TRIGGER WARNING: THIS TRIGGER WARNING CONTAINS TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Dear Tumblrites: Despite your wrongly self-diagnosed PTSD, no line of scientific evidence suggests people can be triggered over the internet. Triggering works through the senses (i.e. smell, taste, touch, vision, hearing.) but it goes through real time; if you're not experiencing it in real life as it's ACTUALLY HAPPENING in your ACTUAL life, you CANNOT be triggered. The only exception to this is if you have a seizure, but then again, that's triggered by epilepsy (i.e. rapidly-changing flashing lights) NOT PTSD. Remembering a bad incident is NOT the same thing as having a flashback. When you remember, you think; when you flashback, you feel.

Re: Codename: Kids Next Door.

OMG OMG YES KND NOSTALGIA BOMB
Okay, got my brain back.

Yeah, it's way over the top now that I watch it. But I was so inspired by that show as a kid! I wanted to make my own 2x4 technology, and I wanted to created a super cool treehouse, and be an agent and all that.

By the way, not all teenagers are evil in KND. Some were allowed to continue on as agents, even when they were adults. It's...probably sad I know that much about the show. XD

I have to admit, it has some pretty cool and funny ideas in there, mixed in with all the wackyness. And some pretty awesome injokes. Numbah 5's dad (yes, TA, it's a parody of Bill Cosby) and Numbah 1's Borg costume on the Halloween episode (I think he was always meant to be a 10-year-old Captain Picard XD)

okay, okay, I'll stop with the nerdy nostalgia moments...

Carla Franklin may be a whore. She may be a wonderful, kind, moral woman. Seeing as I don't know her personally, I cannot know for sure. However, I find her actions (suing Google, requesting the personal info of her critics, getting angry over random internet idiocy that she should ignore and be bigger than, trying to get this site in trouble because of a few users' commentary on the situation, etc.) pretty ridiculous and unwarranted. If she didn't want people to to be talking about/judging her, well 1. that's impossible, she's a human, and 2. she shouldn't have been a model or agreed to be on film. AND 3. she DEFINITELY shouldn't have sued Google and made all this fuss over a few random idiots whom she probably won't ever know expressing their opinion. Mmkay? MMKAY.

Oh, and the adults definitely aren't all evil in the show, Numbuh 1's parents were apparently operatives back in their day.

At least the dad was, being the legendary "Numbah 0", lol.

The devoted an entire twenty-two or so minute block of TV episode time to a metal opera thing of a giant robot versus a giant sandwich controlled by the local lunch lady. It pretty much falls under Crazy Awesome just for that.

Re: Codename: Kids Next Door.

That show was OK, but if you want to talk about awesome-type cartoons, I think the Hey Arnold! movie was much more provacative (when it comes to kids' cartoons back in '90s-05).

I've seen so much shit done to youth and for some reason, this has made me angrier than I've felt in years. Abuse and oppression happens all over the world. It's a terrible reality of modern society, but we've all accepted that it happens and we're doing what we can to fight it and build a better world.
But this...this mindless, condescending disrespect toward people who have no legal voice with which to defend themselves, this reduction of parents' betrayal into a cheap crack about kids being computer-savvy...it's like watching a surgeon joke about life insurance while his patient bleeds to death on the operating table. The media's job is to protect society from oppression and they've drawn a clear line between the people worth protecting and the people that don't matter. How can they people sleep at night?

These

The inventions were 'fing awesome. They had a tree-house on the moon for gods sakes. They had there own government basically. They had a tree-house under the ice. They wen't on space explorations. Awesome show. The only thing is all of the other tree-hous's were full of operatives and basically were a army base. The main characters tree-house only had 5 people in it. Not to mention they had different security clearances and famous operatives and it was just awesome.

RE: Codename: Kids Next Door.

Hey Arnold was pretty awesome. It's good to see they're doing the Jungle Movie, they never really ended that show properly. Not to mention Helga's mom was an alcoholic.

Anyway KND was a fucking awesome show. Yeah it felt kinda childish and immature but it was still pretty fucking cool for what it was.
