To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Of all the zero tolerance crap...
This takes it to a new low. About a year old, but 3rd grade girl gets suspended over Jolly Rancher
It's even stupider than it sounds because.
-It wasn't even her Jolly Rancher (a friend gave it to her).
-The laws in Texas said nothing about kids having candy in schools, but was prohibiting the schools from serving candy.
-She was forced to write an essay on it. AN ESSAY OVER BRINGING A JOLLY RANCHER.
And of course, there are people (luckly a small minority) in the comments section who are defending the school, spouting the "rules are rules" cliche. Somehow if we let her "get away" with the jolly rancher incident, she will grow up to be some kind of criminal.

Holy fucking hell. This is the worst piece of crap i have ever seen. I've seen some pretty bad stuff to. My brother got in trouble for having a pencil grip on the playground.

Agree or not, fair or not, is not the issue. Life isn't always fair. The issue is that your child brought items to school that are not allowed. Why don't you teach her about knowing and following the rules that an institution has set? That will be a bigger favor in the long run.
In other words, "We don't have the ability to understand the difference between breaking a silly school rule and commiting a henious crime. Just follow the rules and don't even attempt to question the reasoning behind them."

See this is where I would get creative. If I were the mother I would've gone out to the store and purchased twenty bags of jolly ranchers and passed them out to everyone involved in the punishment of my daughter. Then I would've sent my daughter to school every day with a peice of candy and a note to the principal daring them to punish her again.

It would have been even more laughable if she was given it because she recently did an hypoglycemia crisis. (friends can be like that, keeping you from ending up in a hospital because they want you all for themselves. how egoistic.) (I know some schools take every edible thing out when the kids enter, or at least try, even sugar cubes.)
Ah ah, and they confiscated it at lunch, too!
