RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I needs to vent
Yeah, this is going to be just like everyone else, but I. Am. So. Tired.
Of going there e v e r y d a y.
The class bell rings at 8:30, me and my friend sit down, look at each other and say "I'm tired of being here already"
Seriously. If I don't bring a book, or my sketch book, I almost fall asleep. Even when the teachers start preaching to us how hard the exams are going to be, I really don't give a damn. Bring them on, I can memorize enough on the previous day. Enough to get a positive. I hope.
My teachers say my grades are going downhill, and guess what! I don't care.
I could do so much, if I didn't have to be there everyday, during most of the day.
*sigh*
But, no matter what, they won't put out MY fire
This site rules. And the people in it

I forget the stuff I 'learn' in classes by the time the class comes back the next day.

Simple. I don't pay attention. Fuck the teachers. I still know all the answers anyway.

I'm a very light sleeper. One, it's too uncomfortable. Two, the screaming, or "teaching". I once fell asleep for a few minutes, but I got woken up by the teacher's screaming.
I failed biology, even though I got a fucking A in the final exam, u has 2 do teh homoworkz and the stupid quizzes were on memorized words. And my parents are all pissed off.

With school.
Homework has insane, repetitive amounts of work that bore me. Tests aren't so annoying normally, at least on math. The only annoying parts are STATE THE THEOREM YOU USED

Same here. Homework is full of crap that keeps on repeating it's self over and over and then you lose it and go "Fuck it." But tests aren't too bad and if you don't study you can end up with an A. Of course tests can be bad too, if your teacher is a dick and it gives stupid questions. (My science teacher)

Lol Loxor i don't really know what proofs are, but i don't think i do them....though i vaguely remember my teacher showing us then saying "you'll have to use these later in school" and I was like "uh huh.. ok what?"

Re: I needs to vent
School starts for me at 7:30, and my bus drops me off at 7. So that's a half hour more I could be in bed asleep. Bleh.
I write random answers on a page for homework. If they don't collect it or read it, it usually gets by. Tests aren't too bad, I usually don't pay much attention and I'm not failing. Except in Spanish...

Re: I needs to vent
Yeah, I almost never do my homework at home. I just get someone's book and scribble around enough to pass by.
Math. Is. Like, the most useless thing ever. At least past 9th grade. I can't understand anything, because it just doesn't make sense. Or if it does, it won't help me in any way after I leave school. It's like, those problems: "In the triangle ABC the side AB is 6 cm, the side BC is 5 cm. How long is the side AC?" "IF YOU MEASURED THE OTHER 2, WHY DIDN'T YOU MEASURE THE THIRD??"
*ahem*
I've tried to talk my parents into letting me out of school and do something useful for my life, but APPARENTLY you can't get anywhere without the 12th grade >.>
Proofs are actually the only part of math I don't really grumble much, because the answer is already there XD You just have to get there. (If you can't get there, justtweak your numbers a little in the middle) XP

Re: I needs to vent
My bell rings at 7:55, but I go late almost everyday because my
first class is filled with freshies, and I'm the only junior, it's very awkward,
this one guy tried to pick on me, he's all like "WHAT MAN!!?! you think you're all bad
or some thing? (everyone is watching us, all eyeballs, everything is quiet) wanna step!!?"
I looked at him and I said "you idiot, you don't know I'm a sophmore do you? I bet if you knew you wouldn't even appraoch me you stupid little shit faced fuck"
hes like "you're not a sophmore" I reply "dude, look at me compared to everyone else in here, I don't run around like little bitch kids playing four squares and those hand games"
(he stays silent for a moment and looks around then looks back at me)
"oh, I didn't know you were a junior"
"yeah, I figured that, now fuck off"
(he goes and continues to play his stupid games)
kids these days.
"I believe there is a place in space
where the light leads the fields of the wizards
and where the twirls of nebula bind,
to magnify the euphoric altering
between the leprechauns.
yes, I believe."

Re: I needs to vent
I do pretty well on tests and quizzes. Math is my subject. They say the point of homework is so you will learn how to do the problems. Which, makes me want to slap the teachers who make kids do homework on something they are too lazy to bother teaching themselves.
