RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Obama popularity
Obama popularity apparently went down since he is not doing enough. I guess the entire american population expects him to fix a economy in a year. I mean jesus people are so demanding, If mccain was president we would be bitching about him. The funny thing is in his inaugural speech he said this could take time. Apparently america has a short attention span.
As for me I still support him, It's probley going to take him his whole term if not another to get things straightened out.
Had to move on. Account is dead.

Re: Obama popularity
Who says he is going to fix anything in his term?
And the american people who think he can wave his hand and fix everything wrong with this economy are the same morons who are to lazy to notice anything going on anyway.

As someone once said; the decisions you make while president usually show up after you're done.
Anything that ever happened or will... one condition, it has to be amazing.

Re: Obama popularity
In current situation, it's more appropriate to thank him for not fucking up anything than complaining about what he didn't fix.

Re: Obama popularity
I don't hate any politicians until they do something bad (or express views completely against mine on a particular subject, like youth rights), nor do I like them unless they actually do something good or are for youth rights or something.
And people wonder why I'm a Minarchist.

People mostly supported Obama becuase he had a good image and wasn't McCain. The reason he's less popular now is because an image only lasts so long, and people are realising he's very similar to McCain.
I was, at one point, seduced by his color and his "leftist" stances, but now I see he really is just another dominant, American imperialist ruler.
Also, on a side note, John Lennon and Obama don't really mix. If you like his music, cool, but if you consider yourself to support what he supported, take a closer look.

Re: Obama popularity
I am rather surprised people here disillusioned by the educational not see the correlation to power and authority in this society.
Power is given in this society to people that will preach conformity, such conformism only leads to financial wealth to people already in affluence. You could say oil companies, owners of many socialist monopolies. Thus people who develop such great image, are the investment of the already well-off. The basic point is this, the sufferings and oppressions of our life is the expense so the millionaires, billionaires could live their standard of life and maintain their authority. Thus they would only want a demagogue that respect their rights. If we had the acumen of politics, to see there are many minority candidates, for examaple Ron Paul, that would revolutionize social life in America, then everything would be different.
So sorry for rambling on...
I believe Obama would lose support by the end of this 2nd term, and the financial wealthy would elect another demogogue to main their affluence. This is the trend of American politics, the 'leaders' we watch are merely puppets for a great ulterior evil.
And to end this off with a quote from Plato
"This world would not rest in peace unless a genuine philosopher achieves political power or by a dispensation of providence a political leader becomes a genuine philosopher,"

General american attitude is to let somebody else(president) fix things and to bawl when they can't do anything.

In other words, if a president tried to radically change things to the disadvantage of monopolists, we'd have a replay from Kennedy.

I was having a discussion with one of my classmates a few days ago, and when I explained to him what demagogue meant, he was like "That sounds like all politicians," I believe that is the stereotypical image of the term leader in our society man who can rant but not act. Saying that, I believe the society tried and successfully implemented a routine of conformity in our lives that we do everyday. We work our 9-5 jobs, go home, eat, sleep, amuse ourselves with monetary propaganda and care about nothing else. It has implemented also, that we vote every 4 years and that is basically a routine in our lives that is expected of us to choose a political figure to represent us, not to over think anything. Thus people vote not because they want social change but it's just a routine for them to vote and they vote upon who has the greatest image on television, who the media has hyped up. So to sum up, they do not really believe change can dramatically happen but it is just an expectation they they participate in the voting. What a beautiful democracy...

Indeed.
Only way way things would change is for some terroristic force to intervene.
Sad thing is this ain't the movies.

He's doing the best he can. I do not know enough about politics to determine what he can realistically fix during his term, but I do believe that giving him a Nobel Prize for not actually doing anything was an insult.

I know I'm going to be crucified for saying this on a site like SS, but there are more important things happening now.
