RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. Send me a message if you'd like to keep in touch with me & Steve.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

bravest guy i have ever met

this kid single handedly got a teacher and two administrators fired in the name of youth rights, and literally humiliated himself in the name of it. goddamn hero in my book.

so let me start by saying this guy is my idol. He is that guy at school everyone knows and loves, he just has a way with words where he just gets anyone and everyone to like him. He also happens to be an avid youth rights supporter and bitches teachers out every single day. The most amazing part is that he always keeps his cool, and the teachers just don't know what to do with the stuff that he tells them so most of the time they just accept it and take his advice.

so in short, this guy is god. we will, out of respect, call him god

now for the story that makes me want to build a statue of this guy in his honor.

so we had this history teacher that was really really REALLY bitchy. for now we shall call her ms. bitch. so, ms. bitch was going on with her rant about how disrespectful her 3rd block class is, when god raises his hand.
"ma'ym" he said. "may I please use the bathroom?" he said it calmly and politely, not even a hint of sarcasm or humor behind his face
"NO" said ms. bitch "your just a hooligan, I know your going to leave and never return to the classroom. grow up and hold it in!"
"but ma'ym" he says with a chuckle, we could see in his eyes he was up to something "this... this is an emergency. I really have to go"
"I dont think you understood me the first time Lucas, you are not a good kid, therefore i do not trust you leaving my classroom" ms. bitch spat
a cold smile came over god's face, he had a plan formed in his head and there was no stopping him now. "ma'ym, I don't think YOU understand. you have a student in your class who needs to use the restroom, he has stated that it is an emergency. he is, by right, allowed to use the restroom, and to prohibit that would be an offense that would breach what little rights youth have, and put your job as well as the school in jeopardy"

a deep scornful and menacing glare followed from ms bitch. "YOU GAVE UP THAT RIGHT WHEN YOU DECIDED TO BE IMMATURE AND BEHAVE INAPPROPRIATELY IN MY CLASS ROOM! I AM IN CHARGE, AND I SAY YOU CAN NOT GO TO THE BATHROOM!"

now, this god man just smiled and shook his head. now, he could have done the right thing, and walked out of the classroom and gone to the bathroom. but, instead he decided to do the most brave thing i have ever seen a man do in my life.

he peed himself. on the spot.

now we ALL knew that he did not need to go that bad, but THAT was the greatest example of youth rights protest if i have ever seen. This guy had forever won my respect.

now, ms. bitch proceed to flip shit, and called our school officer to remove god man. god man was then, expelled from the school.

2 months later, a court case followed. ms. bitch was fired, along with 2 administrators fired for their approval of the expulsion. the district had been sued, and our high school was now under strict surveillance for student abuse. god, returned to our school the next year. he was a fucking hero. rightfully too. THAT takes some serious balls.

THIS MAN IS GOD.

never have i heard any store like that. he practically took a bullet for us. he is a hero. -bows down-

i wish more people were like this...well, not peeing their pants, but every little effort goes a long way, especially when more people catch onto it.

I was really thinking about doing this..
But I do not think in my school it would play out the same.
But praise God for doing it.

Re: bravest guy i have ever met

I hate to see people lose their jobs. Especially teachers, over technical things like this.

http://www.salon.com/news/us_economy/ind...lling_eggs

I think it would be soooo difficult being a teacher. Honestly, it sounds like a job from hell to me, working in the secondary education system. I think the stress has just got to be crazy for such small rewards. I mean school is full of assholes. And they have to put up with all the assholes much better than students because their job is on the line. And navigating all the politics of what you can or can't say to other people's children.

I'm inclined to call this kid smart. But since I'm pretty sure someone's guilty of paraphrasing to hell and back, I'm also inclined to call him a jackass.

Let's do the time warp again!

Re: bravest guy i have ever met

It doesn't matter how stressed the teacher was. She tried to deny someone a basic human need, and she suffered the consequences for it. Obviously we only have one biased account, but it seems like a pretty open a shut case even if there was some exaggeration.

I had a teacher say I couldn't go to the bathroom, so I went anyway, and I got suspended for 3 days.
My friend Teegan said she did the peeing on herself thing too. It didn't get anyone fired, though.

Re: bravest guy i have ever met

I remember I had an event like this happen to me in third grade.

So, after lunch, I went to the bathroom. Lunch period is only thirty minutes and then they take you to the bathroom right after. I only had to pee. Unfortunately, later, after it properly digested, I had to take a shit.

...

The teacher didn't let me go to the bathroom, so I proceeded to shit all over MYSELF because of it. No expulsions or anyone getting fired though, which is lame.

Doesn't compare to God though.

Motherfucker, you tend to be scared of people who can ruin your entire week just because you had to go to the bathroom.

Oh, just shut up. It is the teacher's fault for being there, at least they have the freedom to leave, they aren't forced to go to school.

I've had only one good teacher ever, and he's still in his job only because the school doesn't give a damn about his classes (no computers on standarized tests, y'know)

Well... any teacher that has to bitch about respect is probably not a good teacher. Yeah, I'm generalizing. And also, if she denied him his right to take a piss, then even with all the exaggerations in the world, I'd still be inclined to believe that the students are better off without her as a teacher. Even if the guy might be a jackass - sometimes we need jackasses. Even jackasses can be jackasses for the greater good. Sometimes. This is one of those times, methinks.

Re: bravest guy i have ever met

This guy has balls of steel. I've always held it in every time I had to go. During 2nd grade, there was a day I had to go so bad, it started to hurt. However, at the time I was a "goody goody" kid and didn't want to "pull a card" (this was the equivalent of getting a warning or a mark against you) at the same time. This makes me wish I could rewind time and mobilize myself to stand up for my own basic human rights to take a damn piss when I needed to. But there's always the future, and I'll remember this kid the next time some teacher tells me off about my basic human needs.

Re: bravest guy i have ever met

As awesome as this story is, I don't think it's true. Someone from the local or state press would've reported on it by now. Especially if there was a court case that lost three teachers thier jobs. I need a source please.

That and college students who major in education tend to be the bottom of the barrel in terms of academic achievement.
