RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

My teacher is "speaking to the administration" about me.

Apparently, she doesn't like the fact that I refuse to stand for the pledge. I was being polite too. She was like "You need to get up, you don't have to say it, just stand up." So I said "No, I'm sorry, but I can't do that."

So, now she says she's going to speak to the administration about me.

OH LAWL. I know my rights you stupid bitch, now after this shit, you'll have to get police officers in here to forcibly make me stand up. Then, instead of putting my hand over my heart, I'm going to flip the flag off and say "I pledge allegiance to the fucking flag, not because I want to, but because I have to. Of this idiotic nation, and to the assholes, for which they stand, under the ashamed god, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for none."

What is it with me? I'm so hard headed. Laugh

Someone I know got yelled at for saying the gay pledge of allegiance. Which was "I pledge allegiance to the fags of the United States of America. And to the gays, for which they stand, One nation, with sex and marriage for all."

She got a detention. Rolleyes

Saying the pledge in the classroom is one of the most offensive parts of school to me. Pathetic nationalism, shoved down the throats of children.

School can be sued.

That usually shuts them the hell up.

It's part of the reason I stopped, whenever I say the pledge anymore, I feel like I'm worshiping Hitler.

Any punishment they dish out, I'll refuse to take part in. Hey, maybe this is how I can get myself expelled!

No, it's better to have their asses on a silver platter.

I've never said or even stood up for the pledge this year at all. First period - the time the pledge is spoken - is Spanish for me, and my teacher doesn't want us to stand up because Mexico isn't America.

Laugh

Oh, and the class the pledge takes place in is my Career's class.

It's the biggest attempt at brainwashing I've ever seen. The whole class talks about the importance of staying in school and obeying your masters.

I shit you not. Today we looked at the positives of being in her class at 8:15 in the morning on a Monday. The entire class said "To get our education."

GGGGAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Re: My teacher is "speaking to the administration" about me.

Here's some questions and assignment for you to do which can be used against your class and support your case. Why is there illiterate graduate? Why is there is graduates with a 4.0 GPA who just bunks off doing tasks that doesn't make them contribute to humanity? Why are the masters are actually individuals who thinks differently? Do your research in order to help you argue into your case and ignore what other people say while finding out people's weakness.

Here's a head start that can be used to support your case.

Well, evidence suggests that you are legally able to pwn their asses in this matter. Which means that legally they can't get the cops to force you to stand... because then the cops would lose their jobs too. Wouldn't that be lulzy though? Razz

Re: My teacher is "speaking to the administration" about me.

UPDATE:

I won. I was sort of hoping I could take this further though. I have a big binder of crap on the pledge. Including my states laws which say I don't have to participate, and a story of the boy who sued the school for $32,500 for the very same thing.

But, I didn't even get to show them, the gave up too easily.

Re: My teacher is "speaking to the administration" about me.

Hey, there are other teachers who go BATSHIT if someone doesn't stand for the pledge... regardless of rules. Soooo....

I still have a fight on my hands, and people will rage, and I will pwn them.

Man, that entire situation sucks. I haven't had to stand up and say the pledge since elementary school.

My teacher is "speaking to the administration" about me.

Lucky for us in the UK, we don't really do anything like this.

RE: My teacher is "speaking to the administration" about me.

Take it a level farther and wear an armband of the American flag, stand on a desk, do the Roman salute(as it is known) and shout the pledge of allegiance with pride.

If they punish you then ask isnt this what they would like. If they don't you can call them fascist bastards.

And your teacher is just a supid sheep of an outdated idea of so called patriotism(which is like the American form of Fascism nowadays). Once it stood for a revolutionary now stands for a reactionary.
