And it's not because I just finished high school today, which I was actually sad about. I actually realized it a long time ago.

Usually when people start liking school on this site, it only lasts for about a week until they start hating it again. Now that you aren't in it anymore, that probably won't happen.

Also, elaborate on why you like school now. Do you honestly believe they give us a better education than we can get from the alternatives?

Ok. I think it mostly has to do with the school I'm in. If I was in a different school, I probably would still hate it. Way too many good things happened to me while I was in that school. I also met some of my closest friends. And it was an overall positive experience. Seriously.

It also helps that the principal really likes me and the office people are really nice to me even when I'm late or skip school.

That makes sense then. I've met 1 or 2 good friends in school, and every once in a while a good thing will happen, and I start liking it for a little bit. Then I get slammed with mandatory state exams, and essays, and projects, and busy work, and it all just seems completely pointless and shitty.

You don't have to hate school to be against the way they are set up and managed.

@Absentinsomniac: that's another thing kinda. I like writing, so essays/papers aren't really "work" for me. And some of the projects were fun.

@CC: yes, I definitely think high school should be optional. But only high school. Nobody should have to endure 12 years of the same shit over and over.

I'm not saying, yeah, everything I did was super fun. A lot of it was like slavery. But MOST of it wasn't. And of course a piece of paper isn't worth everything I went through. I said no such thing.

I never said I thought I was mature just because it turns out that I do actually like school...or more specifically the school that I go to. In general, it's still pretty shit.

I'm not "slave thinking". I actually have broken a bunch of rules at school, and passed classes that I deserved to fail. I'm just lucky to have some really amazing teachers that were nice enough to let me pass. I've talked back to teachers, called them names, not done any of the work in their class, and generally not given a damn about the stuff they taught, but they would never give me any shit about it. And about the "education", I did find a few of my classes pretty interesting this year, particularly cooking, government, and psychology in which I DID learn useful things that I probably (most likely) would not have even bothered to learn by myself, believe it or not.

And last, for me it's not about "oh noez, I can't do anything about it so I'm just gonna obey"....it's always "I simply don't give a fuck".
