RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Why teachers are so annoying

Now think about it. They work there ass off, go to college, and make about the same money as a mechanic. If I were a teacher, I'd be pissed off too. I mean, some teachers have to work at KMART. At friggen KMART!!! What message is that sending?

Because of that, nobody wants to become one besides the nuts that enjoy the job of being a poor man's prison warden. And thus, it's hard to refill the positions if someone gets fired meaning they have a lot of freedom when it comes to abusing their power, because the school has no choice but to keep them.

Problem, officer?

This too. I know some really nice teachers. O SHI- that reminds me, I want to draw something for my elementary school art teacher, I loved her so much. She's retiring this year.

Re: Why teachers are so annoying

I see teachers as oppressed workers who must force students to obey undemocratic and often nonsensical rules and regulations; if the teachers do not make these impositions upon students, they can lose their teacher's licenses and their jobs. I am not by any standard attempting to be some sort of apologist, however; a tool is a tool because it lets itself be a tool.

First of, a tool is a tool is a tool. It doesn't let itself be anything. Secondly, no. You'll notice that you have good teachers and bad teachers. They may work under the same rules, but there's a very large difference between them. Oppressed? My ass they are. In comparison with the students they're gods.

I'll let you have the tool point. Secondly, yes, there are good teachers and bad teachers. I've had both over the years, and while I have seen a difference, at the end of the day they impose upon students because they could lose their jobs if they don't, and then they can't eat. Teachers are oppressed because they are forced to impose.

Let me give you an example. Let's say there's a teacher named Jim. Jim holds strong anti-nationalist views, but in the country he lives in it is a federal law that students must stand for the national anthem at school, and Jim must uphold that law. A group of students in the hall refuses to stop talking or stand during the national anthem, as they hold similar views to Jim. However, Jim must tell them to be quiet, take their hats off, and stand. Is Jim not oppressed?

Teachers, while being the anti-intellectual tools that they often are, are not the enemy. The enemy is the state, which forces it to be like this.

Which is why I actually try to be nice to teachers. Some are just bad people all around though, and deserve the shit I throw at them. But if the teacher is a decent person, I choose to be nice. They're all people with families to support, and they take it up the ass just as much as I do.

The difference is quite simple. You can tell when a teacher is an asshole or just imposed. Generally, though, they're just assholes.

I don't think that's the case. Teachers are chosen for the job based on their oganizational skills and ability to indoctrinate and be indoctrinated. Ability to control and be controlled. While this makes teachers tools, it doesn't make them assholes. Some teachers do try to be pleasant, and succeed in doing so.

The assholes aren't the teachers, but the government figures who decide that the education system should be this way.

You're paranoid. I'm sorry, but you are. It's not a conspiracy. Teachers are chosen for their abilities to teach, based on the grades their students get.

Actually, it is a conspiracy, one that is over 200 years old. See the link in my signature. A teacher admitted to me once that teachers are chosen for the job for their organizational skills and ability to submit and make others do the same, not for their ability to facilitate the learning process.

No, it isn't. Because believe me, a conspiracy like this would be leaked incredibly fast. It might have been a conspiracy 200 years ago, but definitely not today. Oh cool, a teacher told you that, huh? Care to tell me how the fuck the administration of any one school would be able to tell how good their organizational skills are? Hidden cameras? Chips embedded in their skin? No. You're either really fucking paranoid, or really fucking stupid. Hopefully the former.

It's a conspiracy, but it's not some kind of fucked up David Icke lizard people shit. Also, if you saw the link in my signature, or this article from the very fucking website you're reading this post on, you'd know that it has in a way been leaked; it was never kept particularly secret, just not mentioned. Anyone who knows shit about the history of public education (which isn't terribly interesting to most people) knows about it. The administration of a school can tell the organizational skills of teachers because teachers have to go through teacher's college before getting their licenses, which essentially makes sure they are fit for their job of indoctrinating the future generations.

An excerpt from an essay I wrote on socialist revolution:

Quote:The most important thing which conditions the people in the first world for fascism, however, is the public education system. The system is not geared towards building an educated citizenry full of critical thinkers - it is geared towards producing subjects, drones who will sit down, shut up, and do their work. As you may have noticed, the public education system is very linear and doesn't work for everyone. Students who fall through the cracks simply fail. The system does not change to suit different students better - students must change to suit the system. The history of the public education system makes it clear how the system is rooted in authoritarianism and control. In 1806, when the Prussians were defeated by Napoleon's army, the Prussian government began to look at its institutions in an introspective manner. They concluded that the problem was with their public education system. The Prussian government implemented a compulsory (forced) public education system which would produce individuals who would follow orders and not question the authority above them. The idea was to create a populace which would be an efficient work force - essentially, drones. The creation of an educated citizenry was no longer a priority; those who followed orders unquestionably (the subservient) rose in socioeconomic standing. Those who questioned authority and were unruly became a part of the working class. In short, the people were to be conditioned into docile subjects. Later, Horace Mann, known as the "Father of Public Education" heard about the Prussian system and traveled with others to Germany to investigate. Upon Mann's return, he and others lobbied heavily for the federal government to adopt the Prussian system. Soon, the Prussian system swept over America like a wave. Other countries, such as Japan and Canada, adopted similar systems.

Today, students in the public education system are subject to a fascist-style system to work with. Cameras are everywhere. Often nonsensical rules decided in a non-democratic manner are imposed upon students. Nationalism is also compulsory, by law - students who refuse to stand for the national anthem are punished. Students are told to sit down, shut up and do their work, and if they take a stand or otherwise challenge the system, they are punished. And yet, there is no way out. If they quit (which in Canada cannot be done until age 18), they are denied the right to live as dignified human beings. In short, waiting for them if they deny fascism is poverty.

Re: Why teachers are so annoying

Teachers are annoying not because of their salary's, or their expensive loans. Teachers (and not all teachers, but a good lot of them) are annoying because they've taken to heart the fact that the work they impose on us is godly important, and they think we ought to feel that way too.

Maybe it's because a good portion of their lives revolves around their subject, that they think it's super important. They forget that there's a world outside of what they are teaching - that there are interests and desires beyond biology, or whatever. Since they spend so much time finding or making worksheets and writing up tests, they feel that those things have value - and they try to impose that feeling on us as well.

Now we, on the other hand, have other things in perspective. Our job isn't to create dumb worksheets pertaining to a single subject, or spend hours coming up with a weeks worth of lessons on a particular chapter. Our focus is broader. At the very least, we have other subjects to worry about. We have a future that holds itself open to ideas beyond Chapter 3 of the Algebra book. And so we find it difficult to care about whatever is being shoved down our throats.

I mean, you've got other factors at play, too, like, personality, and the whole "some teachers take it more seriously than others" thing - but, I think an absolutely massive part of the reason why we find teachers so annoying in general is that they put too much focus on an irrelavant part of our day, and expect that we put a lot of focus there too.

You need basic organizational skills to get through any university course, but not nearly enough to indoctrinate a class. And... That's the only point you made in your post. Well, that was easy. Also, just a hint, using something you wrote to argue a point does not validate anything. It makes you look desperate. I'm not saying you are desperate, but that's how it would appear in a political debate.

By "indoctrinate a class" I'm not talking about any of that heavy NWO shit. They simply tell students what the state deems to be fit. It isn't that hard. For instance, the textbooks say that Stalin was a brutal murderer; however, academic sources not found in high school history class show that the numbers attributed to Stalin's supposed killings simply don't add up. They also show that the Holodomor was not caused by Stalin, but by a number of farmers who burned their own crops rather than collectivizing them.

In addition to this, classes on politics and economics are usually going to have a pro-capitalism bias.

I would post quotes and whatnot, but I think it's better to just direct you to a source directly, Lies Concerning the History of the Soviet Union by Mario Sousa.

Because they chose a low-paying job, we should feel sorry for them when they act like crazy ass cunts? No way. They made the choice to take that job. If the pay isn't worth it to them, why didn't they just go work at fucking wal-mart. If they hate kids, why do they stay in the job. Fuck them.

Ah, okay. Different forms of indoctrination. I thought you were referring to... Never mind. That form of indoctrination, sure. Though, to be honest about it, they're more likely to teach about Hitler than Stalin, despite Hitler being an okay guy till his paranoia kicked in.

Stalin was actually a good person, until his first wife, Ekaterina "Kato" Svanidze died...then he changed. He lost his shit, essentially; she meant everything to him, and then she died of illness. He tried to forget her by marrying a second wife (Nadezhda Sergeevna Alliluyeva), but it didn't help. He was, to put it simply, dead inside. His connection with reality was severed and he became an all-around unpleasant person to be around.

"With her died any human feeling in me." -Joseph Stalin at Kato's funeral
