RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I would imagine that if you have some sort of 'issue' with processing coffee it would not be good for you.
nothing wrong with small/occasional quantities though, I s'pose. As long as you know your body and it knows you, etc.
Dunno about mentally though.

yeah, I think larger quantities might be less of a positive.
Then again I don't drink coffee so I'm just speculating.

I've never even tasted coffee.

It shouldn't make you fat if you stop filling it with sugar. I have a friend who went keto and he just drinks it black now or just puts coconut oil or some shit in it (good fats in coffee are supposed to be nice and stuff). He buys decent local beans and grinds at home and uses a French press or something, that's how he can drink it black in the first place, lol.

i don't do any of this cuz i buy cheap powdered shit
so it's basically fine aside from the sugar one adds? and of course staying awake from the caffeine. i added two teaspoons of sugar. how bad is that actually gonna affect me as long as the rest of my diet is *relatively* healthy?

I wish I really knew. I assume total sugar in the diet should be taken into account rather than focusing on one thing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee
This has a section on health effects but it doesn't mention sugar in relation to that. So I guess that the sugar should be evaluated simply as sugar and not as sugar having certain effects in concert with coffee, which makes it easier.
Losing the sugar should at least help you avoid a glycemic spike leading soon to undue hunger (which for me still happens eventually what with the stimulation) and loss of energy, while adding good fats instead should have the opposite effect.

IMO coffee isn't too bad, caffeine isn't really addictive either.
It's the sugar you should keep an eye on though.

yeah of course. i'm just curious as to how much sugar is two teaspoons of the shit out of how much one should consume daily as a percentage. if that makes sense. i really need to do actual diet math like shit to see what's going into my body but i'm so lazy when it comes to learning. gubmint oughta put a strong emphasis on health classes in school tbh, would've saved me having to do this shite myself and would be more useful for fucken life than the rest of the shit they cram in there and perhaps even cut down on obesity which is a massive strain on the healthcare system!!! i mean i'm pretty sure it is. anyway perhaps the obesity problem is mostly down to cultural laziness tho rather than a lack of education. or something. fruit is too expensive, needs to be subsidised somehow. paying out the damn arse for a bag of apples, god forbid i want fucken oranges. idk. bit of a tanget there. i hate that i'm only now beginning to give a damn about health and so much of society doesn't seem to give a flying fuck about it.
i replaced the morning cup with a cup of milk instead. i thought i loved drinking straight milk but it's already becoming very ehh... also due to the price of dairy here, i'm finding it's very expensive to drink a big fucken mug of it every day.
Hans Wrote:caffeine isn't really addictive either.
lel i suffered pretty bad for the first few days from not drinking it. headaches galore! i think. but god do i miss the taste and warmth of coffee. i don't think i consume too much sugar but i'd probably be surprised if i actually stopped and had a look. i know my strawberry jam that i have on toast in the weekends is fucken packed with the shit. i eat a shitload of bread too cuz sammies for work are so easy to make. wonder how much sugar's in that.

Lol yeah, that's the kind of detail I wish I knew. I'm flying barely less blind than you are.
IIRC simple carbs are effectively sugar. Or they have the same effect or something. From what I've heard it all revolves around the effects on blood sugar and insulin. But if you have trouble buying milk it may be similarly hard to switch to whole grain. I'm just talking shit because it's not like I'm doing any of this. I'm broke so I takes what I can gets. I'm actually looking forward to eating clean at this point, lol.
If you haven't looked into glycemic index / glycemic load, that could be a good place to start.
