What's the stupidest rule at your school?

There are hundreds at my school, but one of the lesser ones I can remember is we have to wear shitty school jackets that cost a fucking fortune and look like shit. They look thick and lined with this nice, soft wool or something, but they're hollow as fuck and do jack shit in protecting you from the cold. And we have to wear them during the summer, winter and every other season. One kid got in trouble for not coming to school in his jacket. You literally have to have it on at all if you're walking to or from school, because if they see you without it, you're fucked.

Some bullshit rules from a religious school I went to:
-No dyed hair.
-No long hair for guys.
-The girls were expected to wear skirts
-We had to wear blazers on Wednesday.
-We had to go to Chapel every Wednesday.
-Uniforms. ._.
-Punishment for untucked shirts.

There were really strong expectations of obedience- stronger than any other school I've been to. With so many restrictions, no wonder my classmates acted pretty wild when teachers weren't watching(why I loved them. I laughed every day). Luckily I only stayed for a year.

In my school wearing uniforms is the norm. Here's the dresscode:

Clothing: beige sweaters, striped shirts, red ties, grey trousers(but not too light or too dark), black shoes and black socks. Girls can wear either skirts or trousers, but if they choose to wear skirts, they need to wear leggings.

Hair: Cannot be under 3 inches, or longer than 6 inches for men; for women, it cannot be shorter than 10 inches. Also, it cannot be gelled to look spiky, and if it's too long it has to be combed. And no dyed hair either, but that doesn't apply to teacher since two of them have dyed hair.

Others: no jewelry or make-up. You cannot even have a watch on you, but some people do. It's easy to hide them under your sleeves. Also, at my school, if they catch you with a phone they steal it(though they call it "confiscating") and your parents have to report the the office to get it back.

Man, I wish I went to your religious school. If nothing bad happens for skipping class I'd just stay in the bathroom reading until school ends. But this fucking shit-hole I go to, if you miss the first ten minutes of class, your parents get called.

My school had a rule where if you explicitly threatened someone (and just randomly out of rage), you'd automatically be suspended. I thought that was stupid. Just saying something as simple as "I'm going to kill you" without any actual seriousness constitutes suspension.

I don't get that. Only the school should get involved and no punishment should be given immediately.

Schools need proper professional mediators. These are children we're talking about.

The whole drugs thing Ben mentioned reminds me of something. I don't exactly have any friends but one of the guys I hang out with sometimes told me someone gave him a bunch of money he owned him, it was like ten dollars, and a teacher saw it and asked them what it was about. My friend said it was about some money the other guy owed him, and the teacher got all mad and suspicious and asked my friend if he was selling drugs. My friend thought it was a joke(any sane man would), and said in this giddy way "No." The teacher got all serious and stuff and asked to see the money and asked my friend to turn out his pockets and show the teacher his bag because he thought he was really selling drugs.

The guy I sometimes hang out with has this really distracted, all-over-the-place manor of speech so I didn't get the exact details, but what I gathered is that a teacher actually thought he was selling drugs because someone gave him a tenner. My friend's Muslim, from Pakistan, and while I never noticed racial discrimination at my school, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason for the suspicion.

To be honest my school would probably do this as well. Whether race is an issue is a different question entirely and one that can only really be confirmed through scientific analysis.

I agree race may not be an issue entirely but, at my school, favoritism is definitely a huge issue. I was on the good end of it one time. Before I said fuck it to my bullshit English class that destroyed my dreams and ambitions, the teacher fucking loved me. And, if you don't remember, she's the manipulative bitch with a stick fifty feet up her ass. One time, I forgot my hardback copy book. Usually she would have ten hemorrhages and a mental breakdown once she found out, but when it came to me, she just took a deep breath and gave me permission to go to my locker and get it. And the other time, when she just didn't say anything. But when two girls giggled in class, they got bad report cards, and when one guy forgot his hardback, she had a fucking screaming fit and gave him detention.

I should have felt happy I got off scotch free, but I felt like shit. It depressed me. Same with when I didn't get in trouble for the anti-school poem I handed in. I wanted to get in trouble, I really did. Then I'd have felt like I really did rebel, not just put work into a poem for some bitch who took her anger out on poor kids. Fuck the system.

Yeah I remember favoritism back in the day. If you were extroverted and popular you'd get everyone to kiss your ass. I actually even called out the popular kids; for whatever reason, it made me more popular... everyone must've gotten sick of their shit at that point.

At most of my schools, the teachers liked the hardworking, shy students the most, so a lot of my teachers favored me.. until my last school where I stopped giving a fuck. Though a lot of them treated me like Depression101's teachers do.

If you express innocence and nervousness, the teachers won't fuck with you as hard. xD

Man, I know this isn't the place, or the time, but I just need to say this shit. I suddenly got this urge to write, out of the blue. I've got this idea about this guy who's suicidal, and he decides to take out all his money from the bank, go to Las Vegas and gamble it all away, and just do anything he fucking wants to. And then he goes into this gunstore to buy a gun and shoot it out in the desert, but some guys walks in and tries to rob the joint. Then the main character knocks the guy out and he feels great. Not because he saved the day but because he knocked a motherfucker out, and he gets a lot of press attentiom for it, too, and likewise enjoys the spotlight. So he decides to hurt a lot more people and get a lot more fame. That's the story, and I got a stromg urge to write it.

Thing is, I've got this a lot of times, and it just goes once reality settles in and I feel hopeless and depressed again. I sometimes get moments of ecstasy and passion but they soon get flooded with a wave of despair and hopelessness when I think I'll have to put up with lire's bullshit tommorow morning.

The guy is suicidal because he's depressed and he's depressed because he's stuck in a shitty office job as a rich banker, it's boring, he's running a bank that's crooked, and he's around 'fake', superficial people. But he was pressured into the job by his overbearing father who forced him to do great in school even though the character hated it, so... Both of those reasons. And, to be honest, I wasn't sure of the backstory until your question kind of filled in the gaps for me.

I'll try to write this. My parents enforce a bullshit bed-time like I'm still five so I have to hide under the covers with my taboet. But I think after I finish watching this black and white picture that I might take the good old laptop out and start the first draft under the covers. I wish I did.
