RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. Send me a message if you'd like to keep in touch with me & Steve.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

I'm talking about movies that stick it to the man, that are about saying "fuck you" to the system. 1984 is what I think about; and, also, books are fair game, too. My profile pic is another example of what I think is a "fuck the system" movie/book.

"Then it was straight to the 40 ouncers/ slapping teachers and jacking off in front of my counselors." As the World Turns - Eminem.

"A man is a success if gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between does whatever he does what he wants to do." - Bob Dylan.

"A good artist should be isolated. If he isn't isolated, something is wrong." - Orson Welles.

"That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange eons, even death may die." - H.P. Lovecraft.

"I became insane, with long intervals of painful sanity." Edgar Allan Poe.

Zero Day is a classic school shooter movie. IMO probably the best one out there.

Watch on YouTube

I used to love listening to NWA back in the day and I used to listen to a lot of 90s music which kind of had this message as well.

Also Rule of Bone is a really good stick it to the man book although hard to read.

Mr.Smith Goes to Washington.

It's old and black and white, but by god I wish we had somebody like Mr.Smith stick it up the ass of Congress the way he does.

RE: What are some good "stick it to the man" movies?

I love old black and white movies! Anything with Bela Lugosi or Boris Karloff in it, the Basil Rathbone sherlock holmes sage(Sherlock holmes goes to Washington, is, I believe, one of those movies) and pretty much any film noir ever made. I definitely will watch Mr. Smith if I survive school tommorow.

Zero Day was fucking great, even relatable on some level. Loved the writing and ending sequence.

Anyway, keep on rocking guys and stick it so far up the man's ass that it'll come up the mouth. Peace,

Holy carp in a handbasket. As a gun nut myself, his utter lack of trigger discipline triggers the fuck out of me. I've reached a point where seeing anybody hold a firearm with their finger on the trigger makes me want to punch them in the fucking face then beat the living daylight out of them with their firearm as a billy club till they learn to not put their finger on the trigger unless they're ready to shoot.

You can tell a fake gun enthusiast by the way they hold a weapon. Finger on trigger is the number one giveaway of a fraud.

Decent movie though. The inspiration from Columbine and presented in a fictional scenario was nice. Cross burning was a nice touch.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is another awesome game. It's old but it's still fucking gold.

GTA III is similar as well.
