Parents make a big difference just by talking

Look at their sources. The source is http://www.bbc.com/news/education-39628723.

There seems to be some skewing of facts in this article in relation to the statistics of their source(their only source).

Here is the source's statistics,

"

Exam stress was also a problem, with 59% of students saying they often worried that taking a test would be difficult and 66% saying they worried about getting poor grades.

Across OECD countries, about 55% of students said they were very anxious before a test, even if they were well prepared for it. "

Here is the article's statistics,

" Where students feel that teachers do not rate their chances of success fairly, there is even more worry, with 62% of students reporting high levels of exam tension."

I couldn't find any information about how the way students feel about their teachers affects with their exam tension in the source.

Another example is this,

"It also shows there is no link between long hours of study and students' sense of satisfaction. The frequency of tests, perhaps counter to expectations, also seems to be unrelated to anxiety about school."

...there is not mention of that in the source.

Yet another one is what the title of the article suggests, that parents will make a big difference by just talking. While that is partially true, it seems that they try to conflate that with, "school is not the problem". Luckily, I have another statistic from the source.

In the UK, "teenagers perceived a high level of parental support, with 93% saying their parents encouraged them to be confident and 94% saying parents were interested in their school activities " whilst still having a satisfaction levels below the 7.3 average.

If they are going to be that lazy then it really shows the culture we have grown up in. :/

However, if you find another source that matches the data, let me know.

I wasn't making an argument one way or another, rather just presenting the article.

But it definitely gives a good idea; you can paint a turd, but it's still a turd.

I knew you weren't making an argument, but that article....ugh the intellectual laziness is insane!

But yeah pretty much, "hey guys we found something else(not really) that may also have a part in happiness. Therefore the other argument is false. Oh and to throw off the skeptics, just misinterpret statistics YAY!"

I mean yeah, there will always be a bunch of factors going on, but to list one as the godspeed answer to all our problems is ridiculous.
