RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Toy Story 3

I grew up with Toy Story, so when I watched it finish today with my friend (who also grew up with it), it was an emotional experience. The ending made me choke up, with a few tears as well.

Apart from my emotional attachments, this movie was awesome, it better get Best Picture.

you too? Oh thank god, I thought I was turning into a cry baby. I was trying to make sure my dad wasn't seeing me crying at the end, but I think he was too. It was a cute movie. I loved the tiny references to the first and second movies. And I loved how they didn't beat it over your head that "OMG GUIZ THIS WAS A REFERENCE FYI!!!11" They did it so subtly.

But yeah, I almost bawwed my head off at the end.

I think everyone in the cinema was crying.

The part that got me was when Andy was holding Woody and Bonnie tried to grab him, then Andy pulled back showing how protective he is of him. God, that whole scene was so sad.

After watching it I felt like throwing out my PS3 and getting out my old toys again. It really hits our age group hard.

Definitely. It reminds my of my stuffed bear that my great grandma gave to me before she died. I fucking bawwed. I was afraid they would fuck it up, but they didn't.

Also, I lol'd at Buzz's Spanish mode. Rofl I still think the first one was the best, though.

Did you get that shitty russian version like me?

Also toy story was my favorite movie when I was little aside from james and the giant peach. I used to run around the house yelling "You wanna piece of me?" from that scene where woody and buzz are fighting under the minivan. Giggle

Well I hope your bear wasn't as evil as Lotso, that guy was an asshole.

I feel as though all the three movies were masterpieces in their own right and can be seen in different views (nostalgia goggles).

Also, some bitch is calling Toy Story 3 sexist. Have you heard of that?

Oooookay... I'm fucking confused. Sexist? How?

EDIT: Looked it up, they're complaining because they made Barbie a girlie girl? What the fuck? How else is barbie supposed to act? "There was only one new female character" Yeah, and all thew boys were evil, and if that baby was a girl (can't tell) Then that one girl was the only good one. Hell, I'd call it sexist towards boys, if we wanna get fucking technical. Plus, Barbie kicked ass at the end anyway.

Oh my gosh! I went to see it today! My mom started crying and Joe has been doing the 'Spanish dance' since we left. I was likely the only one who wasn't crying the end...now I feel like a loner.

You heartless bitch. Just kidding, you're not a bitch (I'm not ruling out the heartless part though).

It's sad how people will find something to complain about, even when those "sexist themes" are completely non-existent.

Re: Toy Story 3

I cried.

The Toy Story movies mean so much to me. Remember when they almost went into the furnace?

I was about to bawl then. But I saved my tears for the very end.

"I heard a joke once. Man goes to doctor says "I'm terribly depressed". Doctor says "I know just what you should do. Poliacci the clown is in town, go see him, you'll be cheered right up." The man bursts into tears. "But Doctor, I am Poliacci." Funny joke. Roll on snare drum. Everyone laugh."

Is it sad that throughout the movie, I kept thinking "then they died... THE END"? I mean, though the entire goddamn movie.

I couldn't help it, I just kept thinking about the kid's reactions if they all died and how bizarre/lulzy it would be. I did baww at the end though. Especially since my childhood means a lot to me, it was the only time everything made sense. God, I was so afraid they'd fuck it up.

They better not make a Toy Story 4 and pull some shit ending like they almost did this time.

I saw it at the drive in, my sister fell asleep halfway through and missed the whole ending. Laugh I'm still amazed that Pixar is able to keep this up. Seriously, some of their movies are better than others but they've never made an actual bad movie. They're probably the only studio who can say that.

Oh, and at that part where they're in the furnace I remember thinking "they must put a Lord of the Rings reference in here somewhere. Something hilarious. Any second now, any second...holy shit, wait, are they actually giving up and preparing to die??? This isn't funny! WTF!"

I think Buenaventura Durruti is a pretty cool guy. eh kills fascists and doesnt afraid of ruins.
