Eckhart Tolle - The Power of Now

I started reading this book and oh my god it's amazing.

I think one of my biggest takeaways from the book so far what he has to say on the idea of peace; it's not just an emotion, or even a state of trance, but rather a state of "being", where there is an overwhelming happiness, tranquility, or even symmetry. Peace is actually more detached from emotion, Tolle says.

There's so much more in the book. It kicks fucking ass.

Eckhart Tolle - The Power of Now

I started reading it and then got sidetracked by other stuff.

I think my default state is kind of like what he's describing... but that wasn't always the case, and I'm not entirely sure how I got this way. It was kind of a sudden 'switch' that happened about a year ago.

Before that I was kind of addicted to certain emotions, and I would think about things or do things that would make me feel those emotions... but now I don't feel like I need them anymore. They're still nice to experience when it happens, but the cost of chasing after them all the time is just not worth it. Peace/neutrality is pretty cool too.

I understand you, Soul. I think shit started happening for me a year ago too. Before I used to be in a constant state of stagnation or emptiness. The ultimate form of metacognition?
