RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I'm in love with my math teacher

I'm 14 and I don't know how old she is. All I know is that she is the youngest teacher in the maths department. She joined my school last year. She isn't married. However, there is another student in my math class who is also in love with her. I can tell that he's in love with that teacher, because I saw him flirting with her today. He also called her his G last month. And that boy was in trouble for flirting. Anyway, I blew kisses at the teacher and I didn't get in trouble because I only did it when she wasn't looking. Only my classmates saw me blowing kisses at my maths teacher. Last month, when I was sent out of math class because of a girl calling my name, my classmates told the math teacher that I love her. I know this because they were so loud that I could her them from outside the classroom. I was also staring at the teacher today (I always stare at her in class). Some of my classmates told me a few times that my math teacher loves me and wants to be my girlfriend. One day I even had a dream about her. And at the begining of today's math lesson, one of my classmates told my math teacher that she's very beautiful to look at. I totally agree with her. I just love my math teacher! What can I do?

I am a girl by the way.

You have to not love her. For the best. No chance you will ever be with her. It can ruin her career if she is caught doing anything unusual with a minor. You gotta think this out logically and realistically. You gotta move on and possibly get closure. Good luck

Nothing. It's just a fantasy cuz of proximity and influence. Student-Teacher relationships are practically something everyone is aware of. Not happenign that is, but the urge, because of the sort of relationship students have with their teachers and the time spent with them.

Basically, it's a crush. Meaningless.

RE: I'm in love with my math teacher

The only way over it is distance and time. Never see her and have that last time be long ago. Until that happens somehow it will just be hard to deal with.

I kind of wonder what happened to an old teacher of mine. He got fired after doing... something with a girl...

I can't "Never see her" (At least until Year 10). I was moved to her class, because the Head of Maths made a mistake while marking my Year 8 maths exam. And I cannot move classes because of teachers. The only times that I don't see her is when she's sick, when she's on course, when it's EID, and on Fridays. Plus my form room is right next to her class and we can't move form classes, unless it's because of bad behavior. And I have that teacher for the rest of Year 9.

RE: I'm in love with my math teacher

I know that.

Its hard because attraction comes from a need, a need that should be taken seriously. Problem is when you have a moral system that places a limit on a how that need is met, you gotta learn to live within those limits. School not only prevents you from starting your adulthood, not long ago girls your age might have been married by now, but school also places you in close contact with all sorts of people, some of whom are quite tempting.

Two MAJOR reasons I don't want my kids in school (unless they got some career path that asks for college)

Purity is to Believe only that which deserves it.
Wisdom is to follow only the Opinion which makes the best use of evidence.
Excellence is to be mindful of all these things in Living.
