RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Waat. There are democratic countries, with varying degrees of reliability. Hence...it exists thus it works.
I've yet to hear of 1 man who defeated an army by HIMSELF(not as in "he inspired others to fight and/or involved others"). Only in vidya games does the hero somehow take on an entire army and win.
(Freeman took on a trained military force AND a superior alien force and he was a freaking scientist)

Name at least one country with actual "democracy", where everyone can vote or participate.

Democracy has multiple definitions. Stop trying to squeeze the term into a mold that'd confirm your arguement. Ain't nobody thinking I'm talking about millions of people getting off their ass to vote for every single law. People have a hard time getting off their ass to vote once every 4 years...
Rambo-ing doesn't. Real life Rambos don't live long.

RE: Heartbroken friend and his plan
Direct democracy falls apart when you start getting into the hundreds of people, whereas countries are comprised of thousands, millions, or even billions.
It's also not the only kind of democracy.
Many republics - the most famous example being the US - have a system of representative democracy instead. Granted, it more or less runs on bullshit, but it's still possible for an individual voter to democratically influence laws, especially at the local/municipal level.
Public Service Announcement: First world problems are still problems.

But people labeled "underage" may not vote.

Once upon a time only wealthy men with land could vote. It's a slow process(though I don't know what effect it'd have in the US without lowering the age for office. No youngins really want to vote for some geezers that are a generation behind)

Heartbroken friend and his plan
I didn't wanna post this meme in the other thread since it was in the emotional support forum, but that whole story reminded me of Naruto Shippuden's premise in a nutshell.
Seven crappy hours of our lives.
