RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Anarchism

I am anarchist, not sure what spectrum I currently lie under, but I generally am an anti-statist and anti-capitalist (sorry ancaps or minarchist). But am curious about all the spectrums, anarcho primivitism being somewhat of the oddball, because it seeks for reverting back to the old? Also queer anarchism is something I never heard of.

That's like saying "I have yet to see a constitutional republic/constitutional monarchy(such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc) succcessfully exist".

Murkscribe, yes, Anarcho-Primitivists advocate a return to a "non-civilized life", and they vary all in stance, with some even going as far as going back to nomadic hunter-gatherer societies. It is not to be confused with Green Anarchism, even though they do have similar flags.
As for Queer Anarchism:
Wikipedia Wrote:Queer anarchism (or Anarcha-queer) is an anarchist school of thought which advocates anarchism and social revolution as a means of gay liberation and abolition of homophobia, lesbophobia, transmisogyny, biphobia, transphobia, heteronormativity, heterosexism, patriarchy, and the gender binary.

There was one in Spain during spanish civil war(commie leaning but anarchist). There was also a tiny state somewhere in eastern Ukraine that was anarcho-communist, but the Bolsheviks took em down during the USSR expansion period.

Both were early 20th century(interestingly anarchism was quite active as an ideology during the 20s-30s and even before, till communism became the next popular thing. Nowadays the next trend is islamism/libertarianism/communism)

RE: Anarchism

Yeah. I looked into it. I believe there were 2 communes in Spain. One in Catalonia...and one somewhere else I cant recall. The one in Ukraine was known as "Free Territory". I believe between the 1870s to 1930s Anarchism was the radical thing (course the 1880s had significant revolutions varying between nationalists like Garibaldi in Italy, to Communism thanks to Marx's "radical" opinions released into public. Communism flavored Anarchism was something like a more revolutionary response to the "greedy capitalism bourgeois" since it sought to create a totally stateless spciety.

The Spanish ones were decent successes. You earned through your time dedicated to labor, there was some barter system going on, and things actually ran smooth from what I understood. However they were not well liked by the Stalinist spanish faction or the fascist-backed nationalist. Needless to say they lost against the better supported Stalinists, and everybody lost to the nationalists.

The one in Ukraine fared well for a few years...longer than most communes (the one in paris was like a couple of months). They were slightly militaristic but the "leader" took the role of a military advisor to the society rather than actual leader (cause no govt). Bolsheviks however didnt like him and like the USSR is known for, spread decent amount of bad propaganda about the cowardice and corruption of the "leader" of the Free Territory. Beat em up and then a Ukraine SSR was established.

US had some degree of anarchism, mostly related to labors/unions with more radical ideas of societal and labor reform. I believe one president was even assassinated by an anarchist.
