The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

I think this is probably one of my most favorite films of all time, the one that quite frankly speaks to me the most. There is so much to describe this film, poetic, visually beautiful and universal in it's message as anyone can understand the the theme of love, the connection with one human being. Well I just want to write down my feelings and thoughts on this film. Well this is a very eastern eastern film. Why? Well it's hard to quite describe it, but it differs from a typical western film. On a visual level it really just focuses on the beauty and the romanticizing of nature. The oftentimes slow pacing of the film, which is typical of an eastern film, usually focusing on the emotion aspect of the film and taking shots that wouldn't be necessary for the development of the plot, pillow shot is the term. Kind of like a very organic form of storytelling, moments where there is quietness and sereneness, but times where there is intensity. Animation wise, the animation is more stifled and their mouth is the only thing moving and a lot less bouncy, but at other times is very fluid and moving at intense moments. Fuck I lost my train of thought.
Well while I'm thinking and contemplating on what to write more about, please feel free to include your thoughts on the difference between eastern and western filming, I'm not very good at movie and film analysis, so someone who's good at watching movies feel free to expand upon.
Here's a list of movies that are intresting and has this kind of common threadline alongside this movie:
The Wind Rises
My neighbor totoro: virtually no enemies to fight, no conflict, kind of like a lazy summer day where little kids explore the world around them, get dirty and eventually fall asleep. A living breathing film with moments and shots of the landscape, a snail, or a river.

You should watch spirited away, howls moving castle, and princess mononoke. Best movies ever made ever and they're similar to what you described. If you like my neighbor totoro you'll like those as they're from the same movie studio/director.
The cat returns is pretty good too, although a bit short

RE: 5 centimeter per second: a story about loneliness
I saw 5 Centimeters Per Second a few years ago. Needless to say, I was touched. I'm going to rewatch it tonight now that you've reminded me of its existence. Equally touching is The House of Small Cubes. This anime short is of a completely different style, but if you were receptive to 5 Cm I'm confident you'll find much to like here. It takes my insides and turns them in to soft mush.
Spirited Away is great too, along with everything else Miyazaki has touched. You pretty much can't go wrong randomly picking an anime he's produced.
Who am I? Who are YOU?

Anime might be a slight mislabel, as it doesn't match the style of typical Japanese anime much, but most online sources have it tagged as anime, perhaps out of a need to pigeon-hole it in to a genre.
It sure would be tragic if we had to begin abandoning our coastal cities due to rising sea levels - the buildings people once lived their lives in swallowed by the ocean. At least cities becoming permaflooded would serve as a wake-up call for a lot of people.
