RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Something I feel strongly about

So I was in yr 8 when I realized that we live a lie, a very, very big lie.

I am now in year 10 and still think that we do.

Know, before I get started please don't hate, this is just my current perspective on things [I AM VERY HAPPY, I DONT SUFFER DEPRESSION].

I honestly just think that school, work, and business/company is the dumbest thing ever. I mean, what good is money, houses, boats, jets, planes, pools, exotic cars if you're not happy? I know this has been said several time and doesn't need to be said anymore, I just needed to get it off of my chest.

So, we wake up every day, only to do have the exact same routine, so we can do the exact same thing as every one else does.

Wake up, have breakfast, brush my teeth, get ready, go to school, go home, sleep, repeat. Until eventually, we finish school to discover what adults like to call the 'real world'.

This 'real world' is full of back-stabbing assholes and traitors, thieves and frauds and terrible people. Earth provides wonderful lands, foods and animals etc. only for us to take advantage of.

If you think about it, money is merely a piece of paper that big companies use to control us. We rely on this piece of paper to feed us, move us and entertain us. I for one think this is so stupid and things need to change. Sometimes I wish that I lived when the earth was first created, [but with humans not being retards with clubs] and just chilling, taking what the earth provides without being locked up, and just living life how it was meant to be lived.

Also, the saying 'live everyday as if it's your last.' is quite dumb in theory, if i lived everyday as if it was my last, fuck it. I'd be somewhere beautiful in a far away place where I could not be disturbed, chilling, listening to music and enjoy life! I feel that this is the way life needs to be, I know that it will never be this way but I just wish it was so damn much.

I have a-lot more to say but I'll spare your time, thankyou for your time if you read this. I'm sorry if you got confused along the way, I don't blame you.

Thankyou & please, enjoy life & live it how it was meant to be lived.

Peace <3

RE: Something I feel strongly about

Actually we think the real world is full of assholes and traitors. In fact it's possible that the time spent in school thwarts your natural awareness and warps it around a negativist perception. On top of this, school tends to foster a judgemental environment. Realistically if world was full of assholes and traitors, we wouldnt have gotten this far as a civilization.

Plus the bad is always more apparent and publicized than the good.

That piece of paper is actually the practical evolution of currency. Currency is a concept that existed long before corporations did.

People have used exchange for thousands upon thousands of years. Money is just an extension of that.

Money in itself isn't a bad thing... it's the way people obsess over it that's the problem. It only has value because people believe it does.

Sounds like you'd enjoy living in a remote hut in the middle of nowhere and be completely self-sustainable. That's doable, other people have done it... why not you? Opt out of the rat race. Smile
