I think that the worst ruler was Mao Tze-Tung, because he deliberatly killed 20 to 30 million people, and inadvertantly kill 40 million. I heard the total death toll was 78 million due to his disastrous Great Leap Forward and Social Revolution plans. His real flaw was not his bad nature, but it was his terrible leadership skills that caused all the deaths.

Yes, Hitler and Stalin were very bad, but Chairman Mao takes the cake for terrible leadership.

I mean really, just look at how he was able to make Germany into a force to be reckoned with just years after people were literally burning money to keep warm. 'Course that doesn't change the fact that he ordered millions of jews killed and started WWII, which makes him basically the worst person ever, but he was a good leader.

Not only did these guys kill many people on purpose, like Hitler, but their economic policies killed tons of people through starvation.

And then he decided to invade the world.
He got lucky early on in the war and in the years leading towards it not because he was a genius, but because the French and British and Russian leaders assumed that no one was crazy enough to attempt to conquer all of Europe, what after Napoleon and WWI. He basically caught them with their pants down. France and Britain could have easily crushed him had they actually considered him to be a madman and not a rational actor. But his luck ran out, he failed to defeat the RAF, and then he switched his sights to the USSR, pretty much dooming him. He was not a genius. Early on in his life, perhaps, he was a good political manipulator. But by the time WWII started he was delusional.

Well, yeah. He was a good leader up until the whole "war" thing, that's what I should have said. A shitload of German military operations that failed in WWII can be attributed to Hitler ultimately being in charge of them.

I watched a thing on History Channel where during the second half of the war he was fucked up with pain and diseases, and was basically doped up on meth and a crapton of pain pills.

Surprised nobody has brought up Pol Pot. He may have killed less people than Hitler, Stalin, or Mao, but he was probably more maniacal than Mao.
