RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Hidden stuff:
sooooo, what can I say 'bout maw self...

I'm fresh outta Gr. 6, live in teh good old north with maw polar bears 'n' igloos. I speak English (pretty fluently, I hope), know Spanish quite well, (my mother is Mexican, she always talks to me in her mother tongue), sum French (we're forced to lol), and am (trying to) learn Dutch. I've been a protestant Christian all my life, although my dad says that the majority of the Holy Bible is hidden from the public. I am leaning toward the idea there is God, of course, but not completely as the Holy Bible tells us. I believe in evolution, and yes, the Big Bang Theory to some extent. I found this site simply out of nowhere. I honestly forget and it's only been a couple hours. I snooped around le site and yew guys sound liek a pretty intellectual group of people.

anyways, regards to the school system: it needs a major update. I'm not completely against it, as I've never really experienced anything terribly bad liek some of you guys have, but there is major room for improvement.

{I love conspiracy theories, video games, psychology, roleplaying, skiing, movies, digital illustration, sci-fi, Daft Punk, Gorillaz, and electronic/alternative music.
I love a lot of things ;-; too much too list, I'm afraid.}
{I would love to learn more about economics, entrepreneurship, new age and coding in a whole variety of languages, design, learning how to make electronic music and hacking.}
{I have a slight interest in history, architecture and politics.}

I'm currently writing a story, Impendium,and my dad is editing along with his co-workers lol. we hope to get it to a big publisher by the end of next year.
so far the feedback is gr8 m8.

teh future's bright.

{oh yeh, I absolutely DESPISE COPPA. I mean, it's bullshit. (now that's where I stumbled upon this site)!}
{comic sans is also pretty high up in the hate list.}
{plus, I don't get why fck, shit, and all dem words are so bad. they're simply molded to be bad by culture. (don't mind me taking out the u, it's something I have grown accustomed to). Shrug }

a'ight, well that's my whole fcking autobiography lol. long post is long?
I talk way too much online, even though I find it really hard to talk to people. guess I let eet all out, I mean, I feel much better in the www, I suppose.

sorry this is so long, I mean, this sentence is just making it longer. I should stop. a'ight, I'll stop.

tahnks for readin' this far! can't wait to reply to yer comments ahaha Biggrin

I think posts this long are illegal. 3:

last minute thought: I'll put this in a spoiler tab, it's tewww longgg.

Welcome to SS! I can't believe you found us because of COPPA lmao. I guess schooling isn't our problem now – COPPA is. I'll ask Soul to rename SS to Children's Privacy Survival, or CPS for short. Razz

What do you think is wrong with schools and what reforms do you think the system should make?

Seven crappy hours of our lives.
