RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. Send me a message if you'd like to keep in touch with me & Steve.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Nightmares

For some reason I used to have nightmares of going to school naked.... I haven't had one since last fall.

I also once had a dream that I got to visit this prison high school. It operated like a prison. I think the worst part I remember was that if you were punished, you'd be sent to these rooms which smelled like sex.

RE: Nightmares

This post reminds me so much about Matthew Santoro talking about 10 Most Common Dreams and Their Meanings.

Matthew talks about both at 4:20.

Quote:For some reason I used to have nightmares of going to school naked.... I haven't had one since last fall.

He talks about nudity at 3:45.

Nightmares

Sometimes I have nightmares where I can't breathe. It's not like I am under water or anything- I just can't breathe for some reason. I've even had it hurt my real breathing once I wake up.

Nightmares

For some creepy reason, whenever I do have "nightmares" I seem to embrace the negative aspect of it.

Like if I was to dream of falling from a height, I'd remember the thrill of falling, the rushing of air, the clear doom of death approaching, the intense pain before the end...a great surge of neural shock being an explosive way of ending life.

I sure do have a strange outlook on death and life. People think it's a little bit negative or morbid, but I don't really see it as such.

During my role-playing(not on a device of sorts), I sometimes like to "die" in some way. Shot, stabbed, blown up etc.

I also shed my fear of being naked thanks to a dream. I don't remember what it was, but I just woke up with a different attitude. Not that I'd become a nudist, but now I'm comfortable showing skin. Plus, I find that the human body looks best when not clothed(though not in a sexual way)

What's the point of life if you can't embrace death?

RE: Nightmares

For the most part I can not tell whether I have good dreams or nightmares, both just kinda mix in together.

What I do know is that I dream weird shit... for about 90% of the time. And for the most part I really can not tell how to react to these.

Most of the time my dreams contain falling/flying so slowly as if I were a feather or something, seeing fictional characters from video games/TV shows I love (certain characters appear a lot of times in multiple dreams), strange places and locations I have never seen in real life (mostly not humanly possible anyway), a very high amount of spiders throughout my dreams (which are not even something I would call a nightmare), and then trying to hopelessly run away from something... in slow motion or whatever...

Despite all this, I can not tell a good dream and a nightmare apart, although there ARE exceptions: I tend to have wonderful dreams that I always hope turned to reality, and they did seem real enough.
On the other hand I also have fuckin' nightmares where waking up in reality IS the great thing... you do not want to know what I dream in THESE categories...

The scariest part of my dreams is the fact that it feels so realistic to a point of being scary
Almost like a vision
Of my death

It's called a lucid dream, and it's not as great as everyone wants you to think it is.

RE: Nightmares

Extremely vivid dreams, but you have to know you're dreaming for it to be a lucid dream

Really? Lucid dreams are awesome, incredibly stupendous not to mention helpful

If you're into new age stuff, dreaming about dying could mean you're reliving a memory of how you died in a past life.
