RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

hi am new
Hi I'm a lurker so I know some of you guys like Hansgrohe and someone named Stephen*insert numbers here*. I'm currently in Grade 8. My school is terrible compared to my older school. My school and classroom has never been cleaned (properly also the bathroom is a total mess), the people here are complete morons e.g someone actually thought we had iPads in the eighteen motherfucking hundreds, arbitrary rules like any other school, we have barely any stuff like textbooks and equipment (people stole most of our shit). I seen no improvement with the student council (it was a popularity contest really, and the stuff they've done is minor like dances). I guess it's somewhat reasonable since it's a K-8 school. Ever since I got here I've been depressed and lost that "child like" happiness (when you're generally ignorant to everything bad in the world and life is generally good).
At my older school however we had plenty of trips and scientists in the school, lots of activities like claymation, the teachers were good, our library was good (we had stuff like Beet The Vandel Buster), recess was fun for example we had a good adventure playground, a playscape, a bench where you can just chill (there was a daycare behind it and I used to watch my friends play on the soccer team), I actually wanted to learn(only thing I currently care about is History and some Science). Sorry if my post is a clusterfuck of things but it feels good to vent.

hi am new
welcome to SS!
Have you seen me around?
Those glasses in your profile pic seem familiar...also, my school only has the 1st volume of Beet the Vandel Buster. Is it any good after that?
Do you like video games?

They don't teach you how to know what's going on in someone else's mind. They don't teach you what to say to someone who's dying. They don't teach you anything worth knowing."-Neil Gaimen

1. No I haven't sorry xd
2. They're the glasses of Kamina from Gurren Lagaan.
3. It's pretty good, I remember it getting gory after a while. I haven't read it in quite some time.
4. Yes I do and my favourite genres are Fighters, Action, RPGs, Platformers, some indie games, and sometimes shooters. I'm planning on building a Gaming PC and since Steam Summer Sales are kicking I'm lucky (not trying to be a dick or anything but I only friend people I know irl)
Here's the build I'm using but it doesn't come with a Monitor, Keyboard&Mouse, and OS http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/alanhenry/saved/CVTBD3
