To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

This forum really is different from others I've been on in that it truly supports free speech. It seems like anarchy at first, but after a while, you get used to it and actually *gasp* enjoy it. *

I feel so stupid for asking this but as this is the first time I have used a forum, does replying actually refer to replying to something, or is it just a post on the thread? Is it a response to the creator's first post?

As Faby said, a reply is a post.
When you "reply" or "post" in the thread, which is the topic created by the original poster on the top of the page, you are replying to them. However you can hit reply on one of the other posters and type your response underneath the quotes. That post would still appear on the bottom of the page/s (as all new posts do) and will be visible to all.

I didn't read it. Or did I? Or did I read it and I don't remember I did read it thus assuming that I didn't when I did. Or I didn't read it but thought I did read it thus the assumption that I did read it is is nothing but mistaking what I didn't do for what I did do and in doing so I didn't do it. I'm not even sure of what I did or didn't on doing anymore.
I see you likely have a sarcastic smirk on your face.... tell me, do you seriously think we're uneducated, stupid, pathetic, no-life idiots? Do you really think we're dumb?
I've learned for months that factory model schooling doesn't work (something you might not get through your head). Why? Because my rights are revoked, I'm forced to study stuff I don't care about, I can't learn on my free will, school takes all my time, all sorts of reasons I hate school.
Plus, if you actually ventured on some of the threads, you'd be amazed at some of the discussion we have here. We have brains.
