Going by Hans' scale (which is more detailed at this point in time) I'm almost proud of my join date. Almost. Figures I'd find the place when it was starting to go to Hell.

I'm also miffed nobody mentions me with all the other old users. I was there, man. I fought flamewars with that Sociopath guy. That has to count for something.

forum was better in 2011, when baronvonstrangle, aya, and sociopath posted frequently. this was my favorite place to be for a really long fucking time...I couldn't wait to get home to read the newest posts

That's one of the challenges of making sense of history: there's a lot of it!

Hansgrohe's scale is detailed, but obviously it's a summary. Even my huge reply above glosses over a lot of significant threads... including ones I remembered and/or found while composing it... and while re-reading it.

I think your earlier participation does count for something, and that it makes sense to explore, discuss, and present it as part of this SS History project.

And, regarding others not mentioning you... most replies on this thread are pretty self-centered (including mine.) But, that's often how reflections on recent history start... with the experiences of individuals who often don't have very in-depth cognitive schema or even solid recollection of what's played out.

(This happens to be one of many literacies that isn't generally covered in school, or even through one's upbringing, in media, or in garden-variety conversations and flame wars on the web. In school, history usually consists of memorizing facts, not making sense of one's own lived experience -- let alone that of others.)
