RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

My plan
I got bored so here, I have a plan. Since I'm getting a new computer I'm going to sell the 'stock' in the item to a friend(whom is an adult) and have my dad and the friend sign a deal which states that he/she owns the system and it's being leased to us forever, or until the contact is voided by either party. In return my parents can not keep me from accessing the computer, or preventing me from having privacy while on the computer or take it. What do you think?

My plan
I don't really know about this stuff.
Why are your parents preventing you from going on your computer?

RE: My plan
This will work nicely in both our cases. Could you PM me the plan with a bit more detail? I am building a PC and want to get ungrounded.

Ah, legal loopholes. It seems you've found an excellent one.

Wouldnt the "voided by either party" give a degree of power to your father since he's the other party?

Truuue...but then the computer would simply go to the friend, and legally not be permitted to be confiscated by the father. Brilliant.

My plan
Your right, it would have to be voided by the owner itself. Anywho, I think I've figured out how parents can take things from kids that are given to them. They don't actually give the item to the minor they lease it to the minor, however why they can take shit they got is still unknown to me. Although yes I found a major loophole in the system. Basically I've come up with a way the loophole works:
- Each item has 'invisible' stock which how much you have is determined how much you payed for a part of it.
- If you payed for a majority of it (greater than 50%) then you own it completely without having to really consult the others (if you payed for it completely then you own it 100%)
- If you payed for it equally with another party(you own 50% of it), then you co-own it and as such you must consult the other party in matters concerning it
- If you payed for less than 50% of it, then you do not own it and the other party can do what they want with it in a sense.
So when you sell something you sell the item's 'stock'. if someone pays you x amount of money after you buy it, then the value of the item determines how much they own of the item.
I use the term 'stock' in the top part to better describe my idea. It's rather simple in all actuallity.

RE: My plan
Who paid for the computer? If the father than technically he owns it, and upon presentation of a proof of purchase, he can justly claim the computer was not rightfully sold and have it returned to him...perhaps in return giving whatever money the friend had paid(while taking back whatever money the father paid for the lease if he paid).
Being younger than 18 generally presents certain difficulties in getting the law on your side.

My plan
Well yes, but I will talk my dad into it. I will have him simply agree to giving it to my friend(without paying for it) and the document says that he consents to it being given to the person. The lease will also be stated as free.

RE: My plan
You might want to add a clause where voiding of contract by father doesnt mean transferance of property ownership + possession. And voiding of contract by friend means giving it over.

To me, this sounds like a bad idea, but I barely understand U.S. Law at all, and I'm not sure where Chanku lives.

How can it be a bad idea? I'm essenciatlly making it to where I 'own' the computer the friend is litterally a shadow/puppet owner if you will. The contract makes it to where I own it and I have control over it, through the friend, who simply acts in my favor.
