RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Bring Spreak

Begins today for me too.

Time to finally have more days of rest and peace (no, not the death kind)
I will go outside more, especially for morning walks.
I think it is the best thing ever to wake up damn early in a day that is not a fucking school day and seeing the sun rise.
I guess I have never ever done that, but I dearly want to.

I will try my best (and yes, I literally said try) to enjoy this break, because after that it is time for me to take on the... and now I am going to say it, FINALS.
And guys, I am going to be very honest: I could give just as much shit about my finals as any literal thing in school that is trying to be taught in the potato salad that is my brain, but I will also admit, I do only give about a microscopic molecule of fart about this, but still nothing.

These will obviously be the three main subjects (English, German (grammar) and Maths (And yes, I did just call it maths again (It just is not worth my time making up names for this thing)))

But in all seriousness, this is all hilarious for me, considering that at the beginning of this semester for me, I absolutely dreaded the day I would do these fucking finals, but no, these things do not matter to me, nor does any grade that is given to me, and I do not care if I even get an A or something.

I want to enjoy this Spring Break, and I WILL do it, meanwhile most of my unfortunate simple-minded classmates will probably study until they die for these things. As for me? I have better things to do, seriously.

On another note, in this 23rd April I can go to the location where I will do my voluntary social year and I can work there the whole day (From 8AM to 4PM to be exact) and then decide if I want to work there, which of course I want.

As I said a shitton of times, I want to have a simple enjoyable independent future with the kind of work that I would always love doing, which is anything that directly contributes for society (things like psychology, sociology, etc. but those things are a different story still far away from me)

So this is all for me. I wish you a nice Bring Spreak, have fun collecting any eggs that are not your own, and screw the compulsory school system, and I hope I will post more on this site. Because activeness.

Good to here Ferigeras! On the even brighter side, a few more months and you'll be out of school for the next 2-3 months. I definitely notice my mental state generally gets better during break time (especially if things are going my way).

Less than coincidentally my Spring Break begins right now too. I plan to do a lot of things, actually. See how that plays out.

RE: Bring Spreak

Break always feel good...if it was only longer(at least when I was in school).
