RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Meh. I don't understand humans.
I suppose you can call this another vent/rant-type thingy.
Lately, I've been feeling like I don't understand people as a whole more and more. It's seems like, everyone acts so opinonated these days. People no longer agree-to-disagree in arguments, instead it's "I MUST be correct or I'm a horrible person!" Another thing that pesters me is when people argue over the internet by constantly quoting famous dead people. If you don't believe me, check the awful Yahoo! comment sections. Seriously, I've watched freaking quote battles on that websites. People need to stop making dead dudes fight their battles for them so much.
And what is it with people and religion these days?! Both über-religious people and über athiests take it waaaay too seriously and both end up becoming hypocrites at some point. For example...
-Article about a discovery about an ancient biblical artifact or some shit-
The religious: Yes! This is proof our God exists! The athiests are wrong! *insert scripture*
The nonreligious: Why do you mentally-ill, delusional, brainwashed, morons deny the science articles but when these articles come out they're automatically true? *insert quote from famous person about how religion is poison*
-Article about some scientific discovery or some shit-
The nonreligious: Har har har! This is evidence you idiot religious people are all wrong! Soon religion will be dead and the world will automatically be perfect and problem-free forever and ever because religions are the only thing that cause problems.
The religious: Why must you devil-worshiping faithless people assume all these articles as fact right away? It's okay, our religious beliefs will prevail in the end. REPENT.
It's all so stupid. I don't understand what's so difficult about not visiting websites and articles that hold beliefs different from yours. People seem so gungho about their beliefs these days that I'm honestly unsure about what to think about things myself. I just wish we could all simply get the fucking along...
/end rant-thingy
Well, hope I made sense...
"No matter what I do, it'll probably forever remain a pipe dream that will never come true,
but the fire burning in my heart cannot be doused by anyone.
Even if the black rain falling from the sky drenches me completely and doesn't stop,
I will never allow the fire in my heart to be extinguished. That, is my 'pride'." - Core Pride

Meh. I don't understand humans.
This isn't a result of human nature. This is a result of group culture.
Our society encourages people to put themselves into groups, which instills a fallacy within one's head that their group is superior to all others of that variety. And now it's completely whirlpooled.
Public Service Announcement: First world problems are still problems.

Society today.
Can you imagine that once upon a time in human history, certain concepts that exist today did not exist before(and vice-versa). Course there is generally the fallacy of "We have it now so we've always had it"...

Meh. I don't understand humans.
I dislike the idea of separating "races" and etc. Grouping people up just pushes people farther apart.

Racism is destructive to national and imperial unity.

RE: Meh. I don't understand humans.
I don't think division among politics is particularly good. It's great to identify with your fellows, but it gets carried too far when either party(ies) go for each other's necks frequently, when, in theory, grouping is supposed to be about fellowship (greetings from the US...).

That's why benevolent machiavellianism is best. You do what's best for all so it's best for you so you can make it best for all to be best for you!

Meh. I don't understand humans.
it's human nature to pick a sports team and root for them, and you talk about them like they're your family, you get happy when "your" team wins, even though they have as much to do with you as all the other teams. humans are retarded, i'm an example, why do i argue with people on the internet who are wrong? it's all a fucking waste of time, i know this, but i still keep arguing and it makes me frustrated. and god isn't real, there's no afterlife, people who died are dead, life sucks, evolution is true, capitalism ftw
"I never said half the shit people say i did." -Albert Einstein
"I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail, there is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers. That is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."-Stephen Hawking
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
