RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Russia and Ukraine: World War 3 soon?
I have reasonable doubt a WW3 would happen immediately, or at all. For one, Russia has no legitimate reason to attack the US or EU at this point. The scariest thing right now really outside of Ukraine would be the Polish border with Ukraine. However, like I said, Russia has no legitimate reason to attack the EU or US, and right now NATO really wouldn't want to attack Russia in any way.
At the very worse I'm expecting a proxy war. It seems more like a Cold War to me.

Russia and Ukraine: World War 3 soon?
You mean more like Georgia.
Ya know, that small blimp in 21st history where Russia invaded Georgia for a bit? Wasn't really big news, and it didn't start a global war.
A world war today would probably take a bit more shoving to start, seeing that people haven't forgotten the last 2, and probably never will.

I thought Ukraine gave all their Soviet nukes back to 'Mother' Russia.

They did, in 1996, in return for getting support from the international community for their territorial integrity(which Russia violated in current events)

Russia and Ukraine: World War 3 soon?
In worst case it'll be Georgian scenario + sanctions from EU/USA. (none matter that much tbh, coz they got china to give gas to, they signing up contract in May.)
Hehe, Kerry(?) says they drop sanctions soon, but Putin says: You better think twice how it gon reflect on you.

Russia and Ukraine: World War 3 soon?
The USA keeps butting into Russian business as if it was still the cold war. Personally I think the US should spend a bit more time fixing it's own problems.
Not to mention the US plans to give $1 billion aid package, along with "training" to institutions and assist in anti-corruption reforms or something. It's another game of tug-of-war between the great powers of the day...

I actually fully support how America is handling this, "Hey Russia, if you keep being dickheads, we'll cut off trade with you."

Better than how we handled Iraq, at least.
The whole crisis is interesting, even if I don't think it'll result in WWIII. At best, it'll be a proxy situation, maybe like Syria but slightly less messy.
Honestly, Crimea becoming Russian again was probably inevitable. The territory was Russian for a long time until Khrushchev committed a bureaucratic error and gave it to the Ukrainian SSR. It's a shame Putin decided to be a nationalistic 'man's man' and forego a diplomatic transfer.

I don't see how because a profession lends itself more than most to corruption and graft means doing away with it entirely. Are there problems? Yes, but I don't consider them completely unsolvable.
