Brb while I go cry for the fact that I have more pride for a country I've never lived in than the country I was born in and the fact that they country I love so much is falling apart.

You have no idea, my heart ached when I watched those protests. I feel the pain of those fighting, those who have lost there loved ones. I'd gladly risk my own life just to go there and help in any way I can.
Guys you don't understand, this is so incredibly personal. And I'm being pulled so hard by the fact that I'm half Ukrainian, and the other half of me is a mix of many other European countries the one most prominent of that mix is Russian. The way I see it, Russia is a shithole right now. Putin is a straight up prick and his smug face littered all over the Olympics made me want to vomit. Smile you fucker, your country just won gold! And I love how NBC conveniently cut to his face as Ukraine walked out during the opening ceremonies. It just ruined the moment. They didn't cut to his face for any of the other countries? Why fucking Ukraine?? Barely anyone even knew about the protests in Ukraine at that point!.

Yanukovych is a corrupt fool who can't even handle the backlash from his own people so he had to flee! Coward!

Ukraine was pretty fractured till the Soviet Union stamped that area as a republic of the USSR. And Crimea has historically been a Russian territory.

Its not exactly Ukraine vs Russia since they share very much in common. The Russian speakers wouldnt really see "Go back to Russia" an option when independent Ukraine appeared 1991, or about 22-23 years ago(though it was formed as a republic of the USSR in 20th century)

And I don't care if Crimea is historically a Russian territory. I don't see the Russians having a hissy fit over Alaska! I don't see the Mexicans buttfucking eachother over pretty much the entire southern US.

Isn't it true that many ethnic Russians want to secede from Ukraine? And if that's true why shouldn't 17% of the population be allocated space and political autonomy?

That is not meant to suggest I support a military solution. Why can't this be resolved politically?

Who is being territorial? Russia, Ukraine, or Russian-Ukrainians, or is it everyone?

Everyone's being Territorial. It started when Yanukovych decided to work with Russia, and a bunch of people got mad and started protesting. Yanukovych is a corrupt asshole who unleashed snipers on his people and fled when they impeached him because he's a coward piece of shit. He tried to burn and sink a bunch of papers documenting his corruption. They found the ones at the bottom of the lake or whatever it was. He's a corrupted coward and should have never been elected.

Now The ethnic Russians of Ukraine are getting pissy because of it.

This can't be solved Politically because Putin is a dingus and wants to restart the Soviet union.

I was born and raised in The United States, but all my life I've lived a very Ukrainian-American life. Having almost zero communication to my Russian (and Polish, German, English and Native American) side of my family(father's side). I was raised in a Ukrainian Orthodox family, so I celebrated both Western Christmas (December) and Orthodox Christmas (January 6th). And exclusively Orthodox Easter (which happens to be on the same day as western Easter this year). I've been surrounded by Pysanky, Paska, and Pirohi, as well as many other ethnically Ukrainian dishes and traditions. But the Language seems to have died out in my family after my great grandparents came to the United States, something I think is common for 4th (or is it technically 3rd, idk) generation immigrants. Quite a pain and I've been teaching myself Ukrainian for several months. Though I'm bad at learning languages and have only been able to learn to read the alphabet and a few ways of saying "hello" and "goodbye" I can say "Love" and I know what I would equate to a very young child, like 1 or 2 years old maybe.
