RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Ted Nugent's Obama comment

"Subhuman mongrel". He apologized because of the government and society, not really because he wanted to. Freedom of speech? Sure.

RE: Ted Nugent's Obama comment

So I decided to look up this story.

Ok let me break it down for you all since V here completely forgot the context anything having to do with the story.

Ted Nugent is apparently some rock star guy dude person from Texas. And there's this guy, Greg Abbott. Apparently he's likely to be some GOP nominee for some bullshit in Texas. So yeah, he's running for some type of office, some shit I don't care about because fuck Texas.

Why does Greg Abbott matter??
Oh well it's simple. This Greg fellow is running for some bullshit. And usually when people run for bullshit they want to win! But see here's the thing, Greg here invited Ted to campaign with him.

So Ted here calls Obama a subhuman mongrel. Ok, personally I don't give a shit.

But some democrats did.
Quote:Texas attorney general Greg Abbott, the likely GOP gubernatorial nominee this year, came under heavy criticism from Democrats this week for campaigning with Nugent, who's known for making outlandish comments about the President.
Source

And if you're running for office, you don't really want to piss of the other side too much. I mean, you still kind of want to make some of them think you're better. You know, get more votes.

But lets for one second maybe just ignore all that. Ted Nuget is apparently kind of a celebrity. And I don't know if you've noticed this, but when celebrities say something wrong that causes that much controversy, they tend to put out apologies. It happens literally all the time!

So not only could he just be looking out for the guy he's campaigning for, in which case it's simple politics, but he could also just be covering his ass to keep his career afloat.

Anyways, the only thing I found from an actual government official suggesting Nugent apologise is this tweet from Rand Paul
Quote:Ted Nugent's derogatory description of President Obama is offensive and has no place in politics. He should apologize.

A simple suggestion. No one went to Nugent's house with a gun and force him to apologize.

Ted apologized on his own accord probably for political and/or career reasons. Not a violation of freedom of speech.

I'm not sure if you just made me defend a crazy Republican nut, or our shitty president.
Either way, fuck you for making me have to defend people I don't like.

Ted Nugent says stupid shit all the time and then turns around and apologizes. This isn't the first time.

But he shouldn't have to apologize. People take things too personal with things like this.

RE: Ted Nugent's Obama comment

You realize that there exists a balance between individual and society.

Being sided too far to one side will not help you in any way.

If he hadnt apologized, he'd have to defend his comments. If he chose not to defend his comments, he'd get smeared all over the place about how he's a coward or retard and cant defend a statement he made. If he defends, he's a retard. Either way, its better to drop the entire issue then have to continually suffer the stress of the weight of the statement and its impact.

Its easy to say "he shouldnt apologize because freedom of speech" without knowing how it feels to be affected in such a way. People keep forgetting the fact those are just words on a piece of paper. Those who follow and interpret it in the end provide the power and authority to said statements. The freedom of speech arguement will not prevent a community from ostracizing you, wont prevent them from criticizing you.

Its like a weird game of tug of war. If one side appears to be pulling too hard and too far, the other side just releases the rope and sends them tumbling.

Ted Nugent's Obama comment

And my point is that society takes things too personally. He made a comment, alright, that's his opinion. People need to fuck off of his opinion and stop overreacting.

Ted Nugent's Obama comment

Hard to defend the stupidity of one, against the overreaction of many.

Stupidity being defined as anything cause a mass reaction, of the negative sort.

Were you referring to the "I don't give a crap about x" version of that statement.

Personally, I don't care about Ted's comment, I liked how he debated Piers Morgan over gun control (I sided with Ted on that.)

In Texas, you can find "Ted Nuget" .30-.30 ammo in gun shops. They are expensive, but high quality

Wake up people, and look at life around you

He didn't have to.

He chose to on his own.

You think "society" is overreacting. I think he was overreacting. He doesn't have to like the president and he can say whatever he damn well pleases, but subhuman mongrel? I mean come on. What are pedophiles and murderers in that case? And I don't think Obama likes to do the thing with child. Whether or not he's a murderer is debatable.

And perhaps maybe you're overreacting. Oh wahh, I'm crying about a pseudo violation of freedom of speech. Some dude made a comment and he apologized by his own fucking decision. Get over it! There's no violation of freedom of speech. He said something, he didn't fucking have to apologize, he fucking apologized because he wanted to for whatever fucking reason.

I say the word "apologized" lightly. V, did you even read/hear the apology? it's a fucking bullshit apology. It wasn't even a fucking apology. If someone apologized to me like that after insulting me, I'd be tempted to smack that motherfucker.

And you know fucking what? It's about fucking time a republican apologizes. How many times have democrats bowed down at the feet of republicans sobbing their fucking weak ass tears?

I mean, look at MSNBC, apologizing left and right for nothing.

Now. I don't like Obama, he's a fucking idiot and liar. Sprinkling dreams of "hope" and "change" only to prove he is just another greedy corporatist pig who loves to drop bombs on innocent civilians in the middle east (and then we wonder why they hate us, and wonder why they become terrorists), not to mention, doesn't give a flying fuck about the real violation of our rights we know as NSA spying.

And I don't know much about Ted Nugent, but anyone who writes these lyrics is a shitty excuse for life in my book:
Quote:Well I donґt care if youґre just thirteen
You look too good to be true
I just know that youґre probably clean
Thereґs one lil' thing I got do to you

Jailbait you look so good to me
Jailbait wonґt you set me free
Jailbait you look fine fine fine
I know Iґve got to have you in a matter of time

...

Honey you you you look so nice
Sheґs young sheґs tender
Wonґt you please surrender
She's so fine sheґs mine
All the time, all mine mine
Itґs all right baby
Itґs quite all right I asked your mama
Wait a minute officer
Donґt put those handcuffs on me
Put them on her and Iґll share her with you

Now I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be defending a pedophile.

I'm a girl ffffeck

RE: Ted Nugent's Obama comment

Ted Nugent can't stand by his own words because of his precious career. He makes idiotic statements that he doesn't even backup. And then, he uses the whole pseudo-toughguy "THIS IS MERICA AND IF U DON"T LIKE IT U CAN GEEEEEEET OUT!!!1" arguments. I hate Obama too, and I'm pro gun, but he makes pro gun people look like redneck idiots. How did he become involved with the NRA again?

Ted Nugent's Obama comment

He still didn't have to apologize. People taking his insult too personally is why he apologized because he thought that he would lose 'fans'.
Also I happen to like younger women a bit, depending on the age.
If she is of age to make her own decision and it is with consent, go ahead.
