RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Winters: What kind of threat is that? If knowledge of their own inferiority wasn't enough to bring these people to tears, surely nothing you have to say can hurt us.

Bring it on. *grins devilishly*

(OOC: I think Winters is pulling off a Xanatos Gambit; if the GM can't come up with good insults, it will demonstrate the futility of his test. If he can, and manages to actually bring him to tears, at least he will be causing MORE suffering to the others. Again, Winters is not a team player, which makes him very hard to create dialogue for.)

RE: The Games: Geography of SS

(Chuckles) Bad choice, Terrell. Can I call you Terry?

Listen, Terry. You think you're doing what is best, but you're not. I've looked at hundereds of Amerigonian citizens, and they all have one thing in common. They are peaceful people, who don't want war with anyone. They don't wish ill on the people of Capitalistian. I can hear them mourning for them now.

So, by extension, they hate you. You want war, and for people of different nationalities to be gone. You go against all Amerigonian ideals, Terry. You think you'll be welcomed back a hero, but you'll be shocked when they scream for the police to arrest you. And deep down, you know that's true. Don't even try to prove me wrong with your delusions of celebration.

The very people you care about will be running away from you, Terry. The people you helped will spit on you face. Wanna know why? (Comes closer to Winter's ear.) You are a worthless, racist, hateful, son of a bitch. No one could ever love you. You will never know love. And there is no hope for you to know love. If I didn't have a sense of fun, you wouldn't be breathing.

The only justice I will ever provide is making sure that you will never leave this room.

(Turns to the rest.) HE IS NOT BRAVE. HE IS A COWARD. GOT THAT? -The GameMaker

Winters: *laughs quietly and uneasily* They already have. Abandoned me. Mocked me. Ridiculed me. Which will make my inevitable victory over the world all the more sweet. And if you think you have a sense of fun, just wait to see what I'll do if - nay, when - the tables are turned. *he grins evilly before sinking into a recline in his seat* (OOC: It appears his sanity is slowly slipping, even though his emotions don't appear to be.)

(Laughs and slinks back over.) That's the funny thing. You'll never return. You'll die here. All of that mocking and ridicule will be for nothing. All folly. All dust. All. Fucking. Dust. And the tables will never be turned. You have nothing, Terry. It'll go by a lot faster when you realize that.

The Games: Geography of SS

Winters continues to hang his head low and remains silent, attempting to piece together just what the obvious flaw the GameMaker has unknowingly revealed actually is.

Under his flamboyant, racist, and loud exterior is a devious mind. By looking at him, he would be deemed the least intelligent man in the room, when in actuality, his ability to see the big picture, knack for persuasion, deception, and theatricality all aid him when under pressure. These hidden traits make him consider carefully his next move, and ultimately prove his previous assertion correct.

RE: The Games: Geography of SS

(OOC: Well, the GameMaker has some idea of the deviousness the Winters has. But, he problably really underestimates it. And he most definatly doesn't think he's up to anything right now, becides some mild paranoia that he has with every player.)

The Games: Geography of SS

(OOC: The game will be really interesting if we get far enough for Winters to succeed in torturing the torturer.

And by the time the end of the war comes around, Winters will already need to be free and ready to die, so...it's occurred to me that I didn't describe in detail how he dies at the hands of Onarevyl and the two Capitalistian leaders. Hmm.)

Winters: Yeah, what kind of game is this? Musical you're-trapped-in-chairs? Boring! DOWN WITH THE CHAIRS. DOWN WITH THE CHAIRS. DOWN WITH THE CHAIRS.

(His chanting is powerful and hypnotic enough to make people want to join in. And, to be honest, they're probably thinking the same thing.)

The Games: Geography of SS

If Winters could move his mouth, he would smile uncontrollably. He can't believe he didn't figure it out earlier; the GameMaker is probably the least patient man he's ever met, at least when it comes to social interaction, and can't keep a very good check on what little sanity he has when it counts. Winters stores this knowledge in his mind for good use.
