RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.
-SoulRiser

The Games: Geography of SS
Yeah, thank you for reminding me. (Breaks everyone else's phones.)
So, we better get started.
GAME ONE: THE SUPPORT GROUP.
This one is just a little warm up, before we get to the good stuff. (Puts the chairs into a circle formation.) So, what I want you to do is tell everyone about yourself. Keep things brief. Then, the other three people must tell you why they hate you. This is an easy one, and a plentiful one. You get a hint every time you make someone cry. Refuse, and I will use you as an example of how to do it. Trust me, you'd rather let them go at it than me.- The GameMaker
(OOC: There are a few things I want to talk about here. First, this will be judged by a d20 roll by me. You mental stability, as well as your traits, if applicable, will add to the number on the roll. This will determine your reaction. Secondly, this is actually a method used in behavior modification camps. So, keep that in mind. Thirdly, as this involves conversation, maybe we can schedule some games to be done on the IRC? Just a thought.)

We've had a lot of fun, guys.

The Games: Geography of SS
Winters: *to the two humans* Sup, borgies. (OOC: An example of slang pertaining to the Capitalistian ethnic group. Thought to be derived from word "bourgeoisie", which pertains very nicely to a nation named after capitalism.)
*faces Molly* Sup, ghoul. (OOC: Derogative term for one who is disfigured, also means zombie. Word comes from the Fallout series. I also said s'wit earlier, which is a word from the Elder Scrolls thought to mean "softwit".)
I'm Terrell Winters. As in the single-holiest freedom fighter in the world. As in f**k you.
I see you borgies have always called this cesspool of a nation home. You are unholy filth. Vermin. I come from the greatest province in the entire world - Amerigo - and am here to cleanse Capitalistian from the heresy of the Freedom Party. All shall bear witness to the rise of...well, I shouldn't say who they are, but I do know they are going to take over the world and appoint me as their religious advisor! THE WORLD SHALL HEAR OF THE GLORY OF THE HELIX FOSSIL! OMANYTE HAS RISEN! OMANYTE SEES ALL! OMANYTE WILL UNLEASH JUSTICE AND KILL YOU MISERABLE WRETCHES!
*he looks around, realizing that his shouting has left even the GameMaker temporarily silently stunned*
*he slinks back in his seat, but not before giving the other three captives the finger multiple times*

The Games: Geography of SS
Winters: Typical ghoul. Pathetic borgies. You're all a bunch of washed up cowards. You do not deserve to bask in the presence of the Helix. You do not deserve a single hint from our unintimidating host here. You couldn't negotiate for your lives to save your lives, that's how pathetic you lot are.
I will be glad to be rid of this place, so I will not have to even gaze upon your urchin faces. My sights are set on world domination.

Molly: *glares at other players* I hate you. I hate you all with a fiery passion. I hate you so much I could devour so much of your flesh, skin and organs that you would become dry, lifeless skeletons and I would still not feel a single shred of guilt. *reverts back to normal*

RE: The Games: Geography of SS
The GameMaker smirks, then takes out a notebook and begins to write. This is what he puts down.
Nothing from Duskshine or Wactor yet. I'm asuming that they are waiting to get more info.
Molly's execution is brief yet powerful, and her use of violence and imagery shows great potential. She is extremely effective in her delivery.
The real powerhouse here is Winters. His use of slurs, his religous bigotry, and his general perception of other people really make him extremely entertaining. If that's what comesout of his mouth now, I can't wait until he starts to crack.
But, everyone seems to be mostly unaffected. Maybe they can only achieve their goals if they focus on one player...

The Games: Geography of SS
Winters: You're asking for rationale from an illogical and imperfect world, full of people like you. You borgies are so...pretentious. Your culture is drowning in its own decadence. You probably don't even know what's going on outside, do you?
It's a civil war! Just as I planned. As we speak your pathetic and inferior race is turning against itself once again, like I knew you would.
Only the chosen of Helix will prosper as every other nation does the same. Only the principalities that once were countries will remain. The silent will rise. And then, the world will be ours.
And for all of it, your definition of "rational thought" will be but a painful memory.

Winters: ...Not bad. You actually have a thought in that decomposing brain of yours. Unfortunately you're still not thinking. This fat b*****d over here *points at GM* probably doesn't want us working together. Besides, no one cried at anything even I dished out, so I bet his "test" has changed its focus greatly already. Since we've pretty much established we don't have loose tear ducts, how about we see if our captor has anything to say?

Winters: Haha, oh wow. Have you even looked in a mirror lately?
I'm not even saying this for the test; I mean it. You simply look like an inferior borgie. You probably lead - rather, led - a sheltered life, whereas I've been fighting for freedom all my life. And I can tell you don't have a brain because you're not listening to reason. Just...give up. Damn.
