To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Hi, we were talking about this in IRC, and I thought it deserved it's own thread. AMSR is the name for a phenomenon that is characterized by pleasurable tingling, usually in the head, neck, or back. This is usually caused by sensory stimulus, usually sounds like whispering and the crinkling of paper. A bunch of videos have arisen made to induce this feeling. Here are a few videos that I have listened to. I tend to get a strong, tickling sensation around my spine. I can't stand it for more than a few minutes.
And here's Rhett and Link talking about it.

I think I have something similar to this. Whispers dont really affect much though, and its not just audio(Sometimes combining audio w/image works). Creating a mental image and sound also has the same effect.
But its sometimes its a light tingle somewhere on my head(generally in the vicinty of the spinal cord that goed up into my skhll), other times its a real intense feeling that moves throughout my body.
I dont know if its necessarily AMSR(I did some research of it before when I stumbled upon it). Maybe I just no longer feel it at a lower level anymore and require "harder" material, with more stimulus from other senses. I still feel something with those sounds...like nearing a tingling but never actually making it.

Me neither, it was boring as fuck.
That just means that style won't work for you. Rhett and Link go into that a little bit. And I meant that the sensation becomes unbearable to me.

When I reach the unbearable point, it feels like a pleasuring electric surge. Unfortunately it's hard to get to that point very often...
At least according to the simple definition, I probably experience AMSR. What I don't experience is the pleasure when listening to the usual triggers. Mine usually have to be like the finale of the 1812 overture(with focus on the collection of sounds, and on each individual sound at the same), aided with some sort of mental image. In fact, without a mental image, I find that the tingling doesn't occur as much.
Usually imaging myself as a emperor or king or ruler surrounded by a sea of loyal subjects(or soldiers marching before me) gives it a nice boost.

i can't either, for the same reason why i can't let some video talk in the background for a few minutes, it's distracting. and it's too boring for me to pay attention for more than a few minutes. idk what exactly it is that i'm supposed to feel, it is strong enough that i would know if i felt it?
