RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

RE: Tarot, Anyone?

Just a generic for me plzkthxbye.

Hello, traveler.

This is an ancient account I have not used in a long time. My views have changed much in the intervening months and years.

Nonetheless, I refuse to clean it up. Pretending that I've held my current views since the beginning of time is what we in the industry call a lie. Asking people to do so contributes to moralistic self-loathing. "See, those people have nothing damning! I do! I'm truly vile!"

Because you can never be a good person with a single blemish on the moral record, I thought that simply entertaining some thoughts made me irredeemable. Though I don't care for his writing style, William Faulkner presents a good counterexample. He went from being a typical Southern racist to supporting the civil rights movement. These days we'd yell at him for that, probably.

People are allowed to change their views.

Nevertheless, this period of my life has informed some of how I am today. In good ways and bad ways. To purge it would be to do a disservice to history. Perhaps it will not make anyone sympathetic, but it may help someone understand.

If, after reading all this, you still decide to use the post above as evidence that I am evil today, ask yourself if you have never disagreed with the moral code you now follow. In all likelihood you did, at some point. If some questions are verboten, and the answer is "how dare you ask that," don't expect your ideological opponents to ever change their minds.

Tarot, Anyone?

I don’t think I’m gonna do pictures, because of how many readings I have to do.

Margarita General:

You desire fairness and fellowship in your life. But there is someone (Friends, relatives, parents, etc.) Who does not want that from you. You are currently in a big fight with them, and you will win, but you will regret winning. Your main problem is that you are wounded from this fight, and don't want to continue. Your goal is to repair this relationship, but on the inside, you just want to sever the ties.

You’ve suffered great loss. This could be a person, pet, or an aspect of your personality. Maybe it’s this relationship. You move around a lot, and this seems to be a force that works for you in this ordeal. Your main fear is to be blinded from the truth, especially during this time. The final outcome is that you will sever the ties, and you will be a wiser person for it.

IN SUMMARY: There’s a big fight you are in, and you want to repair the relationship, but you really want to part ways with this person.

Chanku General:

You currently have a broken heart. The bad thing is that your life has been really good recently, so you have been throwing yourself in those good things rather than letting your heart heal. In the past, your life changed. Ultimately, it was for the better, but it really shook you. There will be a big fight in the future, I guess between the old aspects of your life and the new ones. Your goal is that you want control in your life, but on the inside, you’re clouded. You don’t know what you want.

After this life changing event, you aren’t quite right. Maybe you’re a little shyer than normal. Maybe you talk to too many people on the internet instead in real life. Good news: Life has nothing else to throw at you other than good things. This is a great opportunity to heal. You hope to get a girlfriend, a companion to heal with. The final outcome is that you will never fully heal from this event, but you’ll be a hell of a lot wiser because of it.

IN SUMMARY: You experienced a big, life changing event that you’re still healing from. Right now is a great opportunity to heal.

Chanku Love Life:

You are currently alone in life, and you don’t like it very much. You just got out of a big fight. You’re still heartbroken, and this is a huge problem. Your outer and inner desires.... You goal is to get over that event, but you inner desires are changing every day. In the near future, you will find someone and be very happy.

You’re looking to be in a relationship for a companion, not for physical reasons. Which is good. But, you are currently blinding yourself from the fact that you’re still heartbroken. You need to heal this before any relationship can flourish. You really want a relationship to just come out of nowhere and bloom from nothing, but you will find that that will never work. In the end, you will not be successful, due to how you get into a relationship.

IN SUMMARY: Don’t rush. Heal.

Hansgrohe Crush:

Getting into a relationship with this girl will be extremely hard work. Being friends will also result in work, but it will be enjoyable work. Having any sort of relationship based on sexual relations will result in you falling into a deep depression. She’s in your life to show you all the things the world has given you that you take for granted. You’re there to show her that people who are a little weird are still worth talking to. You need to impress her in order to get close to her, and she needs to be extremely impressed. This relationship will pass, but you will remember it fondly.

IN SUMMARY: Friendships and light relationships are a green light. Impress her, and you will have some good memories.

Gwedin General:

You have a desire for fairness and fellowship, which is hard because you are getting money. You were once aloof, and you fell into the circumstances you’re in now because of that. You are going to fall into a pattern of lust and materialism if you continue on this path. Your goal is to gain balance in your life, but you really want spirituality.

You have a lot of energy, but this energy is misplaced in fighting. You understand that it will be a lot of work to your life and put it into balance. Your hope is to gain some sort of spiritual side, and you will cherish that spirituality for the rest of your life.

IN SUMMARY: Get some religion, dude.

Sorry, I’ve been doing this for over an hour, and I get quite tired when I read a lot in one go. I’ll do a Planetfall's and mine later today, but not now.

Tarot, Anyone?

Planetfall666 General:
You went through a deep depression in the past. This is something you want to leave behind, something you want to forget. You’re doing a good job at restraining it, but you’re taking joy in restraining it. This was a part of you, a part of your life, and you need to accept that. There’s a strong woman in your future that will help you in accepting it. Your goal is to leave your depression, pick it up and lock it away, but inside, you just want to accept it as a part of yourself.

You show restraint, focused on locking your past away. Your hopes are to leave your depression behind. But guess what. Love is in the air. Things will go a lot better of you refocus your attention on receiving love than locking away your sadness. in the end, you will accept this depression as yourself. You will be impaired by this, but you will be happy.

IN SUMMARY: Look, you had some shit done in the past. But that’s a part of you. Don’t shut it out. Find love.

SubCulture Love life:
I’ve always seen love as something unattainable. This is because I feel unable to give love. In the past, I’ve looked at love as something more attainable, but still hard. In the future, I will find someone who thinks love is equally unattainable. I want a relationship that’s childlike, without the drama that’s in most other relationships. But on the inside, I just want to be loved, and to be able to treasure and care for that love.

I have the potential to love, more than I realize. If I try, and I really want it, I could get into a relationship. But, that will not happen until I open up to love. I want fairness and friendship in a relationship. I want to be equals. But, in the end, I will look away when the opportunity for a relationship arises.

IN SUMMARY: I can easily get into a good relationship, but I need to open myself up and change my perception of love first.

That’s actually pretty accurate. But.... Can I trade mine with SadArio's?

Tarot, Anyone?

SadArio General:
You have a strong, reserved personality. In the past, you refused a gift because you weren't aware of it. In the future, you will seek to replace this gift by treasuring something worthless. Your main challenge is that you work too hard on things that don’t matter to you. You goal is to gain power and control in your life, but you really want isolation, time to think.

Again, you want power, and control. Your environment is working against you, and you’re struggling to get a bit of control in your life. Your main fear is that you don’t want to be an outcast, a weirdo. Eventually, you will have great power in your life, as well as great control.

SUMMARY: You want control in your life, but you won’t get it. Be patient. It will come.

That'll have to be the last one for today. I'll get back to these on Monday. Oh, and I was just joking. It's just that yours is the most positive one.

One thing that you can do is make more specific questions. Have fun with it.

Tarot, Anyone?

Subculture, what's funny is that I actually did go through a break-up a while ago(which I did post a little about on my blog thingy). Could you figure out what role my ex-gf played (the one that hates me and wants me to go to hell...)?

Pretty Much my only signature...I'm mainly a lurker....you can find me on the IRC (or on DnE and their IRC).

Heh, funny that even though these should be taken with skepticism and are also just meant to be fun, this seems pretty accurate.

Considering my social anxiety, in general getting decent high school relationships, ones that are meaningful, is pretty difficult. It makes sense for the sexual part to be that way because I have a feeling that part will mess things up. And yes, I'm a weird person, she's not nearly as weird (well she doesn't at least show it Razz), so it makes a lot of sense, really.

Hmm.... now I'm a bit curious about the future.

No, this is all free. To be honest, paying for Tarot is a bit of a rip off. GIMMIE QUESTIONS!

Well, ok. I do have a small question ... will I ever motivate myself to meditate? I'm so impatient with getting myself into a trance and I haven't performed necessary rituals that I need to do, even though I keep telling myself to.
