I've been on this website since I was 13. Doesn't everyone hate their 13 year old self? Me from 13 - 15 was a complete little shit. I hate 13 - 15 year old me too! But hey here's a thought, I'm 17 now, did you ever think that maybe i grew up a little? Maybe I changed a little? Perhaps I'm a less of a little shit head?

I'm not the same woe is me, my life sucks and everyone hates me little shithead that i used to be. Maybe I have some opinions now you guys don't agree with, but hey, that's life. There's always gonna be someone you don't agree with. But I sure as hell am not the same person that's going to cry about my personal life and then shit all over your advice. And just one main question. What did I do? Nothing. I did nothing wrong. All i did was be annoying. That's it. I was an annoying little shit, just like sure you all were. Perhaps I was annoying in a different way. But we were ALL little shits when we were younger. That's all I did. I didn't set out to hurt anyone. I didn't threaten to call the police on anyone(ahem). And although I'm sure she's bluffing, I didn't stalk anyone and gather their home phone number and address. She knows who she is.

By the way, I don't have any tattoos, though I'm not opposed to tattoos and most of my piercings except the relatively normal ones (ears,nose,bellybutton,tongue) are gone. Though I shouldn't feel the need to justify my looks since you'd never have a chance with me anyways.

This gives rise to a topic that merits discussion. Surely, "maturity" and being told to "grow up" can mean several different things. So can "being a shithead."

One thing is clear: there's a lot of raw hatred and just downright meanness implied in a lot of the above post. Where does it come from? Why must people treat each other with such disdain and disrespect?

I agree with what I think you're saying there, but maybe it'd help to use different language to express what you mean. Children aren't necessarily horrible, petty, and mean. Maturity can mean several different things. This is quite interesting.

First of all, I'm not "a random kid". I've been here before the split of SS to SS and DnE. Being young does not actually mean being "mean and insensitive", although one can definitly say this thread is so by its nature.
Second, I'm not trying to suck up to Aya. Disregard the fact that she is indeed a maybe or maybe not manipulative person. The problem is, if somebody does me some favor, I return it. This is my return of several favors.
Third, I think it would be more "mean" and "insensitive" to have people talking behind your back, while you know that they are talking, you do not know what and therefor can't answer to or debunk those things. This is my own philosophical point of view. Its somewhat a "kill the messenger of bad news" case.

As for "being mature", this is often used by people who particulary dislike what you are doing.
Examples:
"You want to start your own company? Grow up, YOU'LL never get that done"
"You disagree with my argument? Grow up, you're so inferior to my maturity"
"You are having fun in a way I don't approve of? Grow up [and become boring]" <- particulary often used when dick jokes go round


The problem is the term "mature" does not have one explicit meaning. It implies many meanings. That is why the term can be so much and so little at the same time.

Well, in some sense, DnE is a peer group I partake in. I don't see anything wrong in that. I choose to parttake in that group for personal insight and interesting discussion, as for relaxation. Also "clearly staring problems" - well this is an enjoyable show.

I am pretty happy with my life by the way and answering in the fashion that you are quite happy yourself now is probably on of the best outcomes for you. As for "talking shit about you to enjoy oneself", if you carefully dissect the IRC log, it becomes appearant that I did not parttake in that particular action. What I did was merely enable this thread. Which is different, but still does not give me a "white vest". I knew that this might probably
a) emotionally hurt somebody
b) turn into a thread full of white knights
c) turn into some kind of discusison about why what I did, and what other people did, is morally unsound

Outcome c) is the most desirable in my opinion, since it's most entertaining and gives insights.


As for "why do people have to disrespect and be mean to each other"? There are to reasons for this:
Society does reward people who disrespect others. See the bailout of banks who caused the economic crises in Europe. While America dealt with this issue in another way, there are still things in which the American Society gives out similar rewards.
