I was on the shithol- I mean, IGN Boards, and this idiot kept harassing me over which era of Sonic was the best. Then, it was about to evolve into an argument about age before I stopped it in it's tracks. Here's a play-by-play of my reactions to the last post in THAT saga:

Which kind of games? If I'm on IGN talking about Sonic, I obviously play video games. If you are talking about sports, sports fucking suck. If you are talking about Spin the Bottle, 7 Minutes in Heaven, etc., I'm not pursuing a romantic relationship, and I don't want a baby, especially not before I've fulfilled my destiny.

Not everyone on the internet is fucked up. Everyone on this fourm (that ISN'T Asder Miller or Stephen 926) and Benthelooney are examples. Yes, there are idiots (Stephen 926, and Mariotehplumber are examples) but the internet, especially YouTube, isn't the cesspool that people think it is. Plus, if you want to get anywhere in life, don't talk like Shelly Marsh.

IGN? There's your problem. You'll probably run across more blockheads like him on that site.

Mainstream gaming sites, and indeed a good majority of gaming journalism are pretty bad. Graft and corruption, discrimination against women, gays/trans people and to a lesser extent minorities, lack of journalistic integrity/experience and more or less subpar writing are key problems. GameFAQS AFAIK is more or less the same as IGN. Polygon is more modern but their reviews leave a bit to be desired.

You'd think smaller sites would be better, and some of them are indeed sort of better, but not by much because in my experience they're usually overrun with 'HAREDCORE GAMRES' from 4chan and I'd rather take my chances with the assholes on IGN, thanks. Learn To Counter has some good articles and the owner is a good person but the forums are a toxic branch of /v/ with maybe slightly more civility and obviously much less anonymity. The Shmups forums, from what I've seen of them, can be civil but watch out for obnoxious dickheads and fans of people who review shmups and are obnoxious dickheads; the two are often the same. The Australian branch of Kotaku is good reading as well; perhaps one of the only mainstream sites that does a half-decent job.

The best site I've found so far is http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/ - but I haven't been on the forum so feel free to take me with a grain of salt. I just read some articles. They're damn good articles, though!
