RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

Ever have a dream like this?

Has anyone had a dream like this? I was in a field drinking beer that tasted like water (never had beer and don't intend to; this is probably why it tasted like water) with friends and/or fictional characters and got drunk, and the rest was just a bunch of jokes and memes.
When I woke up from it, I started to doubt that dreams are your mind trying to tell you something, and instead are just your thoughts thrown into a compiler. Unless my mind wants me to spend less time on the internet.

Ever have a dream like this?

It generally depends.

Sometimes I get dreams that have no or little real world reference. Other times I'm wielding a lightsaber chopping up Cylons on the Klingon homeworld that I flew to on a ship called Serenity.

Ever have a dream like this?

I know I've had those kinds of dreams, though most of my dreams make sense to my world.... though some make absolutely no sense at all.

RE: Ever have a dream like this?

I had a dream where I was playing Spiderman 2 on PS2, and then Teleported through the TV and into place of Spiderman. I swung to a part of town made of LEGO, and a nerdy guy asked me to watch his "Buffalo." (It was actually a giant cooked chicken, like the turkey on Thanksgiving.) I said yes, and watched it. Then, Ray William Johnson and a posse of four or five friends came up and started eating it, and I yelled, "NO, THE BUFFALO!"

Basically, most of my dreams have no meaning. But my sleeping patterns are so wacky nowadays, I barely remember them. I need to do something about that. They're so entertaining.

RE: Ever have a dream like this?

Generally my dreams are independent, as in not related to anything that Ive experienced. Some are actually deja vu esque. Meaning? I swear Im glimpsing into the future...

That's one thing Ive always had on my mind. How in hell can I so vividly dream of a future event? Hard ti answer though because its always the type if dream I barely recollect. Like its purposefully inaccesible right up until the moment you experience the exact same thing you dreamt of. Whats more strange is just how detailed it is. I dont mean I saw a vague color and saw it the next day and said dega vu. I mean I dream of everything from the location of items, to the words I use, to even the amount of light and from where it strikes from. Sometimes even smells or hell, feelings.

Really odd. And its not always a day or two ahead. I even had a set of dreams over 3 weeks, and what Isw in those dreams happened months later. You just realize when at that moment, which you barely recall from your sleep, you say "Wait a minute. I know this scene."

Technically this experience is one of the few things that has me avoiding the "SCIENCE OR NUTHIN" bandwagon. Imagine this: you go back a few hundred years. With you is a set of walkie-talkies. You gather up the people, place one in there hand. Then you grab another group and move somewhere they couldnt possibly here you. Then while group B stands near you, speak into the device. Group A hears your voice from the device you left with them. Return and group B will confirm you spoke. Now go ahead and show them the radio signals before they burn you at the stakes. The "Cant prove it, so its a lie/doesnt exist" approach of the "science-leaning" folk today is basically a modern version of burning someone at the stake because you cant prove the "magic" they did.

RE: Ever have a dream like this?

YOU GET THOSE TOO!?!?!? I thought I was the only one.
Mine are usually only 10-15 seconds long, and are of pretty mundane things that happen a day or two later. What's REALLY wierd is that I'm starting to have that deja vu esque moment IN THE DREAM. It's really freaky.

RE: Ever have a dream like this?

I think a good many people get it. However "science" tells us we're just lying to ourselves.

Cause...you know, that explains how Im able to dream of something happening months before. Its just a lie and a coincidence. A very statistically improbable coincidence.

RE: Ever have a dream like this?

I had this dream a few night ago that was pretty weird and epic.
I went to this Disney park in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for some unknown reason. After poking around I found out that the island was really a mind control camp. When it looked grim for me I pulled out a AK-47 out of nowhere and Marcus Fenix (Lead Character of the Gears of War series, http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Marcus_Michael_Fenix)
Then the Russian Military, led by Soren (a barn owl, main character of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole book/movie series,http://guardiansofgahoole.wikia.com/wiki/Soren ) wielding a SPAS-12 showed up to free the captives and to destroy the island after fighting for a bit we found one of the islands high ranking officers. I woke up when Soren blasted his face with his shotgun.

I was weird that it keep switching from first to third point of view a lot and that Gears of War is my all-time favorite video game series and Guardians of Ga'Hoole is my all-time favorite book series (the movie sucked compared to the books). I think it was gears of war related because at the end of GoW3 your storm a hidden island resort.

Wake up people, and look at life around you
