RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

Wicked

Gee, thanks, Wicked. Now, I'll never be able to laugh at "I'M MELLTTTIINNNG!!!!*Gurgle gurgle splat*" Ever again, instead, I'll probably burst into hysterical bawwing.

In two or so hours, it's turned the funniest moment I've ever seen in movie history, into the saddest.
God fucking dammit.

/cool story bro

Re: Wicked

The one musical about Oz before the movie. The Wicked Witch was born green, so her parents were very disappoint. Long story short, she's a good person, and the Wizard is a fucking dickhead. She decides she's not going to be part of the Wizard's "business", and shit hits the fan.

So, when I think about how she ends up dying in The Wizard of Oz. It's no longer the lulzy scene I thought it was, instead it's the saddest part in the entire movie.

My childhood has just been raped in the ass, but in a good way (?)

Very much. It explains that the witch was blamed for the Tin Man, Lion, and Scarecrow...

Did you know The Scarecrow used to be the Wicked Witch's boyfriend? They were uber cute together. I still don't know why he went against her in the end (They don't show it, but according to the movie, you know). Everyone in the class was talking, so I couldn't hear.

The saddest part is she started out with so much hope, and she was the fucking nicest person you'd ever meet. All she wanted to do was help everyone. Then eventually people screwed her over so much, she turned bitter. But even then, she wasn't mean. She just wanted the Shoes back, since it was the only thing left of her sister (Also not all that mean. She only made it so no one could leave because she wanted to be with this guy (Later, the Tin Man). Poor flat bastard).

Yep, and the sad thing is, she only turned bitter because a "good deed" got her boyfriend murdered (She thought, at least, though I'm pretty sure he turned into the scarecrow). So she pretty much turned indifferent to everything. If all fails, they're making a movie edition next year, I think. (Original cast, fuck yea!) Pretty much all of them are going to look like shit, because there isn't an official recording. :( Though, the one we watched at school was at least decent. (Not shaky, they zoomed in on the characters, etc.) I'll have to ask her where she got it.

I REALLY hope we get to see it live in December this year. (Even if it'll be an after school field trip)

"No Good Deed" Is the song she gets bitter from. Also my favorite. Defying Gravity is a good one too. It's hilarious how my two favorite songs are the saddest part of show, and the happiest.

It is. I can really relate to the Witch, in so many ways. It's what really impacted me I think. Someone that optimistic to end up dead in the end because of it.

I put it in random because I didn't think it would ACTUALLY get replies, lol.

Re: Wicked

Dad just downloaded Wicked and is putting it on a disk/USB for me and my mom.
I HAD the book, but because i never read it I think I might have given it away....FUUUUUUUUUUUU.

I knew of 'Defying Gravity' before i knew about the movie from a random search on Limewire and downloading it. It was on my ipod until I changed computer and I forgot about it. Then two of the Glee characters did a version of it and now I am here.

Re: Wicked

lol. I heard the Glee version. What with me taking a sudden random as fuck interest in theatre, I might have to watch it. (At first, I figured it would by High School Musical all over again)

Also, Fiyero (The boyfriend) Seems ten times hotter in the book (He has fucking blue tribal tattoos... which is just sexy.

No Good Deed's lyrics are beautiful. I'm torrenting the book right now.

Re: Wicked

I'm a Gleek, and I'll admit it. I thought it would be a shitty musical, well series of musicals, and was all 'Nu....but I need to see it...just once.' and the next thing I know I'm on the season finale.

I will get the book of Wicked back somehow, or steal a copy from somewhere. I'm the type that can't torrent books because I want to curl up in a big blanket with a flashlight late at night and read through all the chapters.

The one that my guy friends talk about and the one my mommy says I can't go into because 'Well you see, dear, well...umm...people there tend to...reeeeally...like blonde haired, blue eyed girls with a nice round ass like you.' '...D:' It's like the redneck areas, but with more playboy and more drugs! And less farm. Or that's how they explained it.

I FUCKING KNOW RIGHT?! And Fiyero and Elphaba lived all happily ever after and shit, but not really, because they're in hiding. (Apparently, Fiyero (Scarecrow, now) made up the story about her melting when she touches water. So they faked her death)

I found out my teacher's gonna let me borrow the book when she gets it back. Biggrin
