RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. Send me a message if you'd like to keep in touch with me & Steve.
Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.
I know we've had threads about this before, but I might as well start another one. Does anyone else get fucking sick of it when the school tries to say that the school is like "a loving, diverse community" when reality is much different?
There are a lot of cliques in my school. I can't say a lot of them get along well, and I can't say I'm great friends with them, either. Oh, and middle school was a nightmare that wouldn't end for me. I was tormented in that place for nearly every fucking day of my life. I was tormented so bad I considered suicide at times. The people there are relentless when it comes to picking on you. It was horrible, and I can only imagine what many are going through now. I wish I could help them.
Sorry, I'm just tired of all the murals that are painted, all the slogans and shit like that. School is one of the worse environments you can put a person through. Not only are there various cliques, but there are also some teachers that can experience power-trips. There are security guards and even police at the schools these days. There is so much "bad stuff" going on in school that there's no way in hell that I can think of school as a "happy, loving, community". It's the exact opposite of that. The PSAs all tell us to "stay in school" even if we may feel uncomfortable or unsafe in school, and it may be worse than at home.
Sorry, I just had to get that out of the way. School is most certainly not a loving environment. It's the exact opposite of that.
"When will the world listen to reason? I have a feeling it'll be a long time." --Dexter Holland

Yeah I remember that. They try to censor anything that isn't propaganda for the school, or pop music. I'm still in middle school and I remember that they did this thing called "Describe Hand in five words", where they described my school in five words or less. I noticed that there were only positive responses there, so I began asking other people, and they said things like "Don't come here it's hell". I'm sick of all of it! Everyone else gave into the propaganda that was being thrown at them! Even prisons have nicer, non-propaganda murals (Source:The War on Kids).
i heard of vietnamese prison camps working like this. they make you write an essay about the war and they pick some dude to reward. after enough conditioning some of them become full-on traitors.

my home highschools mission and vision statements are complete lies. They said they have a mindset to allow students to explore there passions and intrests and are actually said their preparing there students to communicate effectivel and a whole lot of bullshit. People in that school get like 4 hours of sleep how will they have time to discover there passions when schools crush your passions out of you with boring lextures and stuff. Schools are great at bragging about how great they are but don't give a shit about the students.
