RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Pokemon heals all wounds. Play the crap out of that game.
In all seriousness, school wants you to feel defeated. The very fact that you were miserable today implies that you are a serious threat. Be proud of yourself for surviving and showing school that you still have an independent mind.

Fixed. It doesn't seem to help with electronics-induced headaches, though...
On-topic, you went through almost the entire day hurting yourself, and no one even asked if there was something wrong with you/tried to stop you/sent you to the nurse? The hell? As for the "academic" troubles at school, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If an idiot like me can half-ass everything and end up with all A's and high B's, then clearly something's wrong with the system. Cookie?

Well, yeah, but aside from electronics-induced headaches, Nintendo games are the ultimate healers.
Indeed; I would expect school officials or teachers or students or SOMEONE to freak out over your self-harm; schools really hate it when students hurt themselves but have no qualms with hurting students.

I wished however that this was true, because during this break I have to get the fun of doing a motherfucking folder containing the written part of a god-forsaken French language presentation... and I have to write it in THAT language, otherwise I will automaticly get a fucking F if I do not do it. I monstrously LOATHE French language... as a school subject.
My school even has the fucking balls to wish us "a happy christmas"...
I absolutely extremely fucking hate my school more than my whole fucking life... which makes no sense because my life is horrible BECAUSE of school.
I feel your pain dude, in my French class all we ever do is listen to this stupid ass teacher take 40 FUCKING MINUTES to basically do the homework we just turned in on the board, which makes the only reason to do the stupid pointless exercises and vocab getting a few points that don't mean SHIT except "I'm a mindless robot willing to do anything you tell us to do, no matter how stupid it is".
We don't even speak French or learn anything about France in French-_-
That really sucks that you have to write a presentation over the break. Something comparable would be teachers being told to grade assignments and prepare shit over the break, then maybe they would realize how BS that is for students

I'm glad my French teacher was actually knowledgeable and polite, even if she insisted that I do homework at home instead of in class.
