RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Yeah, you mentioned that to me in the Steam chat. Xcriteria and I would agree, then, that the best course of action is to keep saving, and maybe invest a little bit. You should try and convince your parents to let you get a job too; more money, less time spent at home and work experience under your belt can't hurt.
If I were you, I would firmly stand up to the grandfather, but not in a way that raises additional fuss. Blocking his physical attacks, mainly. But that's just me.

At this point, I agree. Considering the situation, it unfortunately seems that you're going to have to be in that situation, at least for now. Save anything you can find and start becoming frugal, and ask your parents if they'll let you find a job. Perhaps you'll save enough money to be able to move out.

And looking at your latest signature you know what you want to do with your life, which is pretty good as a lot of people your age don't have a clue (including myself only because there's so many career choices that I think would suit me ). Work towards it and you'll definitely get success out of it.

RE: My grandpa hit me
I think I wanted to be in the army up until 11th grade. Then I realized my lack of athletics(school didnt have any), and my lacking an American citizenship made applying to any of the military academies during high school impossible.
When I got my citizenship, things changed in the nation and now the army doesnt present the opportunities I once saw. Perhaps when world war 3 breaks out Ill give it another shot.
But its true. Its good you at least know what your looking to do in the future.

Why would they not let you get a job unless your grades are all Bs? Otherwise it's great you can start acquiring more money. I wish you the best of luck.

Apart from college, I don't find grades to matter all that much. If you choose to attend college, though, they can matter. And apparently they also matter when it comes to getting a job, in your case.
if you must, you could use the Homework Help forum.

Well I guess I mean like to get into university courses or something. They usually have their own requirements. Like, maths is required for psychology for some weird reason.
