RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

My parents won't let me play it. Before you roll your eyes because of how common that is, keep in mind that they were perfectly fine with me suicide-bombing the enemy team in Battlefield 4. Values dissonance?

I don't like playing online much. I've done some missions though I am hooked on Diablo 3

Reminds me of the days I'd strap my good ol' Jeep with C4 explosives before ramming it into the enemy tank as the vietcong, in Battlefield Vietnam.

Something new I found out as well...Lisa Ann voices the prostitutes in the game.

Also, you may not be able to go hunting online, but you can still pick up prostitutes, R* has their priorities straight.

I always found the prostitutes in those games funny.

Sometimes I'd try to see if I could pile them up into all the available spaces in the car. I know in GTA 3 you had to find a tight cluster of them to get multiple. I don't remember how it affected cash though, since I usually killed them in some way(park edge of cliff with rear to the edge, in a van, and step out. The passenger would exit then fall to their pixel death..till a new clone was rendered on the sidewalks as you drove by). And I usually did the money cheat so money was never an issue.

RE: GTA V

in V there is no money cheat, but getting money isn't really a problem since the story mode is actually good at making you want to do the missions (why i never beat IV) and when you get some money you can play the stock market and make a lot more really quickly.

As for online though, you can put money in your bank account, but you need to have money on hand to pick up hookers, get lap dances, and, when you're high enough levelm call a mugger on a player.

The less you try to control things, the less you need to.

RE: GTA V

It is, and the singleplayer is awesome, but they did drop the ball on quite a few things in online. One of the lesser things I noticed was that the tattoos you can get on your right arm/leg are completely different than the ones on your left arm/leg (apparent in singleplayer, but I didn't give the characters tattoos this time)

The less you try to control things, the less you need to.

GTA V

I want to try out the online. I've never played GTA multiplayer online(I did that multiplayer thing for SA with another player, who was next to me and came with a second controller). It was entertaining, but it wasn't too fun, especially since you couldn't get too separate from one another.

RE: GTA V

The only bad thing about playing online is that you don't know what kind of lobby you will be in. Basically there are two kinds of lobbies for the good sport and bad sport lobbies (kinda confusing, but basically if you blow up a crap ton of player owned cars then you will be deemed a bad sport and have to play in a seperate lobby from the good sports); You have the lobby full of people that revolve around one area of the city and everybody just drives around killing each other semi-regularly, then you have the lobby full of people that just want to kill everything in sight. The only reason I say "full of people" is because it is more likely that you will make new friends in lobbies with only about 5 people in them since it is really lonely.

The less you try to control things, the less you need to.

At least the naughty ones get separated. Games aren't that fun when you get blown to bits as soon as you enter. Dickery is fun only for a short period of time. Then it becomes immature. Then it makes the other players want to tear your nuts off and shove them into your eyes while simultaneously running over you with a bulldozer.

RE: GTA V

bulldozers are pretty much nonexistant in multiplayer. They will spawn, but because they are so slow and don't have any way to really protect the driver people just ignore them and go get in a tank.

There is a big ass dump truck though, the only real downside to it is that it seats one and has construction grade tires that aren't bulletproof at all.
