RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

-SoulRiser

The forums are mostly read-only and are in a maintenance/testing phase, before being permanently archived. Please use this time to get the contact details of people you'd like to keep in touch with. My contact details are here.

Please do not make a mirror copy of the forums in their current state - things will still change, and some people have requested to be able to edit or delete some of their personal info.

I, President Jerry Brown of Fantasia, will make the first post.

This is a post regarding the unclaimed eastern island just east of East Fantasia (Toonland). We intend on annexing it because there has been recent strife between the cartoons and the video game characters in East Fantasia. This island is intended for the video game characters. The island shall be proclaimed Los Santos, protectorate of Fantasia.

Alright. We have a motion for allowing fantasia to allow them to annex the island to the east of the eastern island of fantasia. If anyone wishes to oppose this then please speak up, if not then your request is granted.

Also a quick note, the meeting will end at 12:00 pm CST Every other day. So if you don't post by then, then you have to wait until the next day however for today it's going until 3:00 am CST.

We wish to fund a space program for Trollandia, so they can establish Trolunar. This is in exchange for an alliance, a monument for Mr. Jim and Mr. McCartney on Tollandia, and exclusive rights to use all space telescopes on Trolunar. -Both

Also, we are excited to annouce the Diplomatic Manipulation Program. Now, other nations can pay to bradcast propaganda on our soil, influencing the elections, and thusly which party controls what. We hope this strengthens foreign relationships, and makes more people trust us due to our chaotic nature. Thank you.- Both

I am extremely disappointed, but okay.- Mr. McCartney

You messed up. -Mr. Jim

Don't do anything rash, okay? - Mr. McCartney

I won't. Maybe. - Mr. Jim

Shit. Get your military ready. I'm terribly sorry about this. Know that we will be with you in spirit, even if one insane person in power says otherwise. -Mr. McCartney

What did you say about me? We will be invading when I get the Department of Military. You will regret this. -Mr. Jim

(Facepalm) Then I wilI try to stay in contol of it as long as possible. I'll even give the Isle of Three some of our more advanced weapons. I am so sorry.... -Mr. McCartney

League of Nations

The glorious forces of the Empire of Sea Land's armed forces have seized the islands of Americium as well as the two uncharted islands bordering it. As a token of generosity, we offer the main (large) island to be the new, neutral home of the League of Nations. The three remaining islands can be given to groups of people wishing to become nations as long as they ask the League for permission and pledge their allegiance to the neighboring nation that is mine - Sea Land.

We believe this to be the fairest deal our government has ever offered to anyone in the past 400 years; if for some reason any of you have a problem with this, you can take it up with the barrels of our guns.

I actually have a problem with that, as the League of Nations meets in The Isle of Three. Also pledging allegiance to a country might not be the best decision.

By allegiance we of course meant alliance; these potential nations are not legally bound to serve us.

While I, the HKoE,GPoA,GAoK,HEoS Ducas Oliver Fawsum the First did agree to attend this meeting, I assert that all future meetings should occur on territory not owned by any one nation.

And we thank you for your service, but the decision stands; if ever your nation decides to go to war with another, the opposing nation would no doubt be denied a voice in international politics. We need to host these meetings on neutral ground, and what could be more neutral than territory my army conquered and pillaged itself? Did I mention that this is absolutely free of charge?

Alright, this will be called by a nation. I also suggests an Anti-Nuclear Weapon Treaty, in which all nations,if this gains majority vote, would disarm their nuclear weapons, which include, but are not limited to:
  • Tsar Bomba
  • Nuclear Weapons
  • Hydrogen Weapons

Luckily for you inferior nations, the Great Holy Empire of Sea Land (rather, Lands, considering the four islands we have taken are considered our property until someone claims them) does not possess any nuclear weapons. We let our army do the warring for us; of the nations present, our military is the largest - it helps that our population is higher (I think) than the average of all nations present here.

We would stand behind this treaty wholeheartedly, considering the fallout from firing any of these weapons would harm all nations present; we're a chain of good-sized island nations, after all.

Also I agree with the Name Change.

It is up to the Isle of Three to determine whether the new name sticks.

The Empire of Sea Lands will give you the island you ask for ONLY if you agree to the treaty. If you don't sign it, you don't get it. No further negotiations.

(No worries. Its the introductory first post in a sense. Course now suddenly it has become clear English!)

We shall sign the treaty then, once we have been given the land that is.

Rumor has it that the cartogrophers dun goofed; allegedly there are multiple uncharted islands on the east side of the map that new players could potentially discover. Sadly, all of the territory that can be captured by developed nations, has.

3 nations have signed the anti-nuclear treaty.

Good thing, too; a blast from Chanku's most powerful nuclear weapon would decimate an entire country and the fallout would almost totally cripple all of the others, that is if they are not destroyed as well.
