RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

It's Time for a Revolution
America was founded on values we can all be proud of: honesty, loyalty, and perseverance. However, it seems those values were lost somewhere along the timeline of our nation, which has directly led to the America of today: a swirling mire of chauvinism, discrimination, corruption, greed - the list goes on and on.
Whatever happened to the beacon of hope, the bringer of peace, the eternal good guy that was America? When did we turn into a monolithic corporatocracy, only giving the time of day to the interests of multinational corporations, exploiting the resources of developing nations, but not paying mind of the needs of our constituents? Look no further than the looming government shutdown: not paying our soldiers and governmental workers, closing national parks, shutting down disease hotlines. But of course, we continue digging ourselves into a ditch borrowing money, carpet bombing the Middle East, and paying the lazy, corrupt asses in Congress. Of fucking course.
This is why it's time for a revolution. We need to rise up and take the helm from these bastards in government. We need to rebel.

It's Time for a Revolution
You're saying this as though this is new information.
Only problem, change doesn't work that way. Revolutions are messy power-grabs; there's no telling who will take the helm once you've knocked it off the previously established government until it happens. It's terribly inconvenient that we need an immediate solution when our best hope will take decades, but there's no time like the present to restore a few checks and balances and get the ball rolling in the right direction again.

RE: It's Time for a Revolution
I love revolutions. Theyre all chaotic and confusing. All that swirling violence and insanity and greed mixed with power hunger, idealism and ambition gives me a warm feeling inside.
Id even have one go on as long as possible through sabotage and deception just for personal entertainment. Its all so invigorating...
But realistically speaking, a revolution will be near unlikely especially in the US. Think of it like ancient rome. If the people dont like you, then you wont live too long. If the senate dont like you, you wont live that long. Thus the idea is to gain support from the people while gaining allies in the government. Of course this is a time consuming process, but less devestating(fun as well, but dull when compared to the chaos of revolution)

Wrong
We were founded on a genocide.
Our forefathers intended for us to be an empire.
Look up Noam Chomsky's spewch on our history and read everything he cited.
Learn what happened in virtually every revolution without a completely unified opposition.
THEN you canccome back and post a serious thread about revolution.
And you might want to check out wiki articles about anarcho-collectivism while you are at it.
The purpose of life is a life with a purpose
So I’d rather die for a cause than live a life that is worthless
I don’t need the circus or the day of national observance
I need you to think for you and stop being a servant

uuuuh no
We were founded on genocide, assimilation, slavery, sexism, ageism, etc. However to not lie about the intent of the founding fathers. Ironically the founding fathers laid out the plans for equality for all, well before its time. They were against a standing army (which would lead to imperialism) pro citizens owning arms (anti-empire), power from the people, not government. Basically they were minarchists.

RE: It's Time for a Revolution
There should be some sort of movement prior to a sudden revolution. I, for one not particularly fond of a revolution, but there are certain things that should be changed that could just as well come through different legislation and protests

As cool as revolution sounds (and I have the guns and ammo for it) I prefer an intellectual revolution. I prefer voluntarism, which cannot come from a violent revolution. As said before, violent revolution leads to a power grab and you better hope the freedom lovers win that grab.
