RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017
The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.
If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.
To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.
I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.
I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.
I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.
I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.
Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.
Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Jaden Smith: If Everyone "Dropped Out of School," Society Would Be "More Intelligent"
http://omg.yahoo.com/news/jaden-smith-ev...eekly.html
Quote:Jaden Smith Hasn't Properly Learned the Rules of Using Capitalization in Sentences. Nevertheless, the After Earth star, 15 -- the son to Will and Jada, brother to Willow, and boyfriend to Kylie Jenner -- thinks school is very uncool. Last week, the budding singer and actor took to Twitter to rant, for some reason, about school, education, and the general rules of modern society.
"People Use To Ask Me What Do You Wanna Be When You Get Older And I Would Say What A Stupid Question The Real Question Is What Am I Right Now," the Karate Kid star began. He continued: "All The Rules In This World Were Made By Someone No Smarter Than You. So Make Your Own."
PHOTOS: Will and Jada Pinkett Smith through the years
"School Is The Tool To Brainwash The Youth," he added. "Education Is Rebellion. If Newborn Babies Could Speak They Would Be The Most Intelligent Beings On Planet Earth."
Finally, Smith -- a close pal of Justin Bieber -- declared: If Everybody In The World Dropped Out Of School We Would Have A Much More Intelligent Society . . . Everybody Get Off Your Phones And Go Do What You Actually Wanna Do."
PHOTOS: Famous families
Ironically, Will, 44, and wife Jada, 41, founded their own school, the New Village Leadership Academy, in Calabasas, Calif. back in 2008. With the Smiths donating millions of dollars into the private elementary institution -- which employed a wide range of untraditional educational methodologies -- the academy shut down last June.
The Smith family was most recently spotted en masse gawking inside the Barclays Center while Lady Gaga performed the bizarre opening number for the MTV Video Music Awards in late August. Will has frequently been outspoken about the parenting philosophy he shares with Jada.

"I think that, specifically in African American households, the idea coming out of slavery, there's a concept of your children being property and that was a major part that Jada and I realized with our kids," he told Haute Living magazine recently. "We respect our children the way we would respect any other person. Things like cleaning up their room. You would never tell a full-grown adult to clean their room, so we don't tell our kids to clean their rooms."
The father-and-son duo recently quelled rumors that Jaden was seeking emancipation. "He is definitely not going anywhere; he is so scared of being out on his own," the Men in Black star said. "Whip My Hair" singer Willow, 12, meanwhile, is a different story. "Willow is probably going to be emancipated before Jaden!"
Want to be enraged? Read the comments. It is amazing the anger people have for parents who respect their kids and treat them like humans. Insane. And then they wonder why their kids don't listen and have problems. smh
The Smith's are doing a good job with their kids. Let's see if they can grow up without the beast that is fame/hollywood destroying them.

Some people aren't willing to accept the truth. Of course, as you expect, these people are festering the Yahoo! comments section. Seriously, those people on those comments sections are the definition of anti-human rights.

The only thing I find myself agreeing with them on is usually firearms and that is it.
Even on other sites the generally consensus is that Jaden is an ignorant child and his parents are neglecting him and being "bad" by "being his friend and not parents".
There are some good comments here and there on other sites though. I might make my first youtube video about this.

I read the comments...
Faith in humanity: -200
"No matter what I do, it'll probably forever remain a pipe dream that will never come true,
but the fire burning in my heart cannot be doused by anyone.
Even if the black rain falling from the sky drenches me completely and doesn't stop,
I will never allow the fire in my heart to be extinguished. That, is my 'pride'." - Core Pride

Jaden is absolutely right, reasons for which I've written about in my book Twenty First Century Auschwitz available on Amazon in kindle and paperback. Those who disagree with Jaden are either brainwashed or government agents working to spread the lie that people need American public education (as it is now at least).

I agree with this. Society would be more intelligent, and people could actually get jobs.

My opinion has always been society is already intelligent, but we humans have a habit of averaging ourselves with the dumbest/ignorant of our groups, thus lowering our capacities.
We just need to accept that intellectual superiority does exist, and equality is just a notion that limits us arbitrarily, especially since all humans are technically equal as a species(thus biologically) but that doesn't mean we're equal mentally.
And like mentioned in the article, school is the breeding ground of the absurd notion of equal intelligence capabilities and thus forced averaging of intellect. Honors classes or whatever incarnation of it doesn't count either, since that's just a fancy term for "Congrats, you follow all the rules and behave like the obedient slaves we want you to be"

oh and also No one has any rights. We're free, rights create invisible restrictions. But we live in a society where the majority accepts rights to be true.
