RIP School Survival Forums
August 2001 - June 2017

The School Survival Forums are permanently retired. If you need help with quitting school, unsupportive parents or anything else, there is a list of resources on the Help Page.

If you want to write about your experiences in school, you can write on our blog.

To everyone who joined these forums at some point, and got discouraged by the negativity and left after a while (or even got literally scared off): I'm sorry.

I wasn't good enough at encouraging people to be kinder, and removing people who refuse to be kind. Encouraging people is hard, and removing people creates conflict, and I hate conflict... so that's why I wasn't better at it.

I was a very, very sensitive teen. The atmosphere of this forum as it is now, if it had existed in 1996, would probably have upset me far more than it would have helped.

I can handle quite a lot of negativity and even abuse now, but that isn't the point. I want to help people. I want to help the people who need it the most, and I want to help people like the 1996 version of me.

I'm still figuring out the best way to do that, but as it is now, these forums are doing more harm than good, and I can't keep running them.

Thank you to the few people who have tried to understand my point of view so far. I really, really appreciate you guys. You are beautiful people.

Everyone else: If after everything I've said so far, you still don't understand my motivations, I think it's unlikely that you will. We're just too different. Maybe someday in the future it might make sense, but until then, there's no point in arguing about it. I don't have the time or the energy for arguing anymore. I will focus my time and energy on people who support me, and those who need help.

Sims challenge brainstormer?

Mrs Crumplebottom’s Academy of Propriety
Once upon a time, this was a school that offered a well-rounded education for girls. It was registered as “Mrs Crumple bottom’s Academy of Propriety For Young Ladies.” In case you haven’t worked it out yet, it was an all-girl’s school.

When legalisation banned single-sex schools, Mrs Crumplebottom’s response was finding a loophole. Technically, the school is now “Mrs Crumplebottom’s Academy of Propriety for Young Ladies and Young Men.” However, Mrs Crumplebottom was careful to keep the classes separate. After all, the law banned single-sex schools. No-one ever said anything about single-sex classes or single-sex field trips or single-sex buses or single-sex entrances or single-sex classes or … well, you get the idea.

Your task is to separate the girls and boys as much as possible.

If I seem rude to you, please call me on it gently.

I've found a solution:

"Fuck it. Co-ed is less troublesome!"

Sims challenge brainstormer?

The more you try to separate boy and girl, the more the costs rise. The more the costs rise, the less funds there are to divert to educational activities that are considered optional. The less educational activities means school gets boring. School gets boring and you join this site...

Umm ... it's a computer game. Actual cost aren't actually involved.

Sims challenge brainstormer?

I like brainiac's analysis. So now the students are joining this site and questioning propriety. That'd make an interesting game.

RE: Sims challenge brainstormer?

Its not much a game for me considering Ive actually experienced something similar though in reverse. My school is trying to split apart boy and girl(going as far as even suggesting "outsourcing" the girls to another school to learn in yet be considered part of he original school).

Lets just say many of their attempts cost a lot of money that parents didnt want to fork over, and other attempts ended unenforced because they were plain stupid.

Hey ... make the joining this site and questioning it part of the challenge. Fictional blogs and whatever.
